Having looked at April too, there are requirements for 9 based on Mon/Thu/Sat/Sun, 10 based on Tue/Fri and 11 based Wednesday.

Sample dates are 2nd week in April.

So, looks to be 10 based at least, certainly the possibility for 11 based if new routes get announced or additional frequencies. Both likelihood are highly possible.

Qatar Airways to continue using B777 through November instead of just October, including some days of double daily B77W operation.

Likely to be a winter long change, more updates due soon.

EZY

I have now been through the current timetable.

I can't work everything out as yet. However it is clear that 10 based are required and may I suggest that probably 11 is more likely as some days seem to require 11 for first wave but more particularly more than 10 seem to be needed to account for the second wave.

I don't have pax numbers but flew the Virgin Man -Atl. route earlier this year en route to Florida, the flight was full there and back
As Atlanta is a good feeder hub, I would expect most transatlantic flights to get good pax numbers.

Terminal 1 looks to be a bit busy next summer

11 based from Easyjet
Up to 16 based Thomas Cook
19 based Jet2

Night stopping Lufthansa x2

That's 48 overnighting aircraft for first wave departures

Then there is the Emirates, Aer lingus and Etihad early arrivals, with the possibility of the Emirates being an A380.

I think I'll avoid T1 in the mornings next summer!

Which goes to show they need to get moving on the terminals asap as I am sure that the current state of play isn't going down well with some airlines (slots) and also PAX because of overcrowding at peak times.

What's been said before is that we need more flights at quieter times with non-based a/c. Ryanair do their bit in that regard, much less so easyJet.
Vueling and IBS are welcome and help from that standpoint - if and until Vueling open a base here.

It seems a pity therefore that Wizz and Blue Air will be flying from LPL and now BHX next year. Blue Air will be serving Bucharest from both airports and Wizz from BHX as well. The route, and the airlines, would have been useful to MAN as flights would start from the European base.

That said, extra based a/c from the likes of easyJet and Jet2 are welcome providing MAN can accommodate and handle them without causing more frustration and delays for airlines and passengers.

I agree to a point.

However airlines and passengers don't necessarily want to fly when the airport is at its quietest. Business PAX usually want to fly in the peaks and that is when the airlines want to fly those PAX and if the can't they wont provide a flight.

What is required is the flexibility provided by increase terminal space and better distribution within that space something the current set up does not provide. That is they need to get the works underway to change the terminals.

Unfortunately what I and I think others find frustrating is that we have been seeing applications for new car parks so expansion can take place but not the expansion which I am beginning to think is an excuse for the car parks. I think we were all led to believe the new 9000 spaces under 23R not only helped with Airport City (if that ever gets going) but also to enable expansion of the terminals but clearly not so far.

The expansion of the terminals starts next April. There was never an intention to start such work before then.

Next April sees the starting of adding in the new utilities, another 2 car parks and then October sees the first spades in the ground on the actual terminal/apron extensions.

The last couple of months have seen quite a lot of surveying, plotting and planning happening "on the ground" in and around the whole of T2 and as far as I'm aware the T2 extension to the building is on the original planning authorisation so shouldn't be held up much.
As stated previous spades in ground early next year.

The Ryanair expansion that was showing a few weeks ago, such as double daily Barcelona etc, but was completely removed from the system, is now showing up again as 'sold out'.

Looks like the expansion of flights will happen after all.

The expansion of T2 is of a scale that it will need a full and detailed planning application. Given that the process of appointing the design team is afaik still on going the detailed design needed to submit an application won't have been done yet and I would be surprised if it was ready even for submission by April 2016.

I would have thought April 2017 would be a more realistic target.

The planning permissions and designs are in for the bits they want to start in April 2016, and hopefully the rest should go through in time for an October start.

The designs are done, but only available internally at the moment.

I notice that the new car park and coaching facility near the RVP still hasn't got planning permission despite being submitted in January 2015. It doesn't bode well for the rest.

Yes, it does. And fares now showing for those extra flights rather than 'sold out'.

Barcelona now has fares showing for both the 2 daily flights.

Fares also showing for all Alicante flights at 2 x daily. (had been reduced to 12 x weekly)

Madrid & Ibiza daily.

Obviously trying to stop Vueling getting a Toe-hold.

Anyone know what's up with AA54 this morning? Doing circuits off Liverpool at 25,000 ft. Other traffic holding/landing as normal given the conditions.

Looks like AA54 is heading to Dublin now after circling over north Wales for the past hour , at least that's what Fr24 is showing.
