In answer to post #230 concerning the reduction in runway length, there is a comment on the airport enterprise zone announced in the budget from the head of the local economic development agency
http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/news/community/community-news/budget-2015-brings-good-news-for-blackpool-airport-1-7163949
"We are not going to get Jet2 back overnight, but the full length of the runway will be protected and will continue to operate"
I understand that this is one of the conditions of the area being granted enterprise zone status.

Let's hope the existing Airport Terminal doesn't emerge as "Poundland" anytime soon. The airport needs aviation related investment ideally and not just turning into some huge industrial or retail park through this Enterprise Zone initiative.
Fingers crossed some type of aviation maintenance or service industries can be attracted with this "Enterprise" incentive , however for the companies that stayed put and supported the airport when the chips were down , lets hope they can get some benefit as well.....

I was in the neighbourhood yesterday and went to have a look.
No activity in the old terminal - it's empty and sealed off - so I went to the office building next door and spoke to a gentleman there. He confirmed that the office building will be the new terminal (as airviewer said above). There was no sign of any work to convert it into a terminal, so unless there's some intensive work done over the next seven days, it will only offer some pretty basic facilities.
I took some pictures. Here's the old terminal in the centre with the office building on its right.
Close up of the office building (ie the new terminal).
I had a peek through the window of the old terminal - you can still see the check in desks inside.

So Blackpool Airport Ltd goes into administration and sells the assets, not sure why people are bleeting about it, this is normal procedure, isnt it ??
Squires Gate Airport Operators dont own these assets, but I can take a guess they will probably bid £1 for it all and get it all back.
Transfer of assets done legally (not morally right, granted), nothing new there then.
