If squires gate airport don't own the items for sale , how come they are listed company for items to be auctioned ? Don't get the report in gazette saying items are being sold off as they are outdated , would a fire engine be out dated for blackpools needs , same with steps , can a baggage courses too be outdated for the needs that Blackpool used it for ? the cynical would say that is definitely the end , unless as has been suggested they by it all back...... And they say football is a funny old game..... I'm guessing if the terminal is just a shell then , no reason why It couldn't be knocked down ..
still back to portacabins just like old days ....

Totally agree with you I think Blackpool has had its day.
How long are Outbound passengers going to tolerate the trip to Liverpool
The answer is that they are no.
The new departure lounge is not exactly inspiring
Would a Fokker 50 passenger load fit in it. ? I think not
It seems to me to be a total waste of Money and I'd like to bet it's not BB s
I feel really sorry for all the staff who have campaigned for Blackpool to try and make it a viable scheme but to no avail it seems
I hope I am wrong but I don't think I am
It's a disgrace to see what was a good little Airport end this way
But the fat Cats at BB will not be losing any sleep I'm sure
That's my opinion
Good. Luck to you all
Gerry

Yes,and all done around local and general election time , by the time whoever gets elected and can be contacted , it's all but waiting for someone to turn lights off

....
Whatever anyone says ,houses or building of some kind is on its way , even if in a glimmer of hope there were flights started , what hope they got with a housing estate being slapped up in double quick time on the old pontins site , are or will the new owners of these home be told the emphasis of the chance (no matter how remote)of larger jet flights ever returning

I wouldn't be counting those chickens out just yet. Balfour do always seem to have some surprise up their sleeves. On the face of it, it does appear a bit bleak, but I say bide your time. A lot can happen very quickly on the site, as we all know from past experience.

Never say never but the Airport Director made the companies position pretty clear in the interview quoted back at post 203 - GA, off shore, small scale regional maybe but:
PR explained it was unlikely BLK would resume international passenger flights and that they had lost money every time a jet landed.

I wonder why (Dart) Jet2 never put a bid in for Blackpool - they would have got it for a song. BB only paid £12 million. The airport was bankrupt. they could have used BLK as a base for anything including freight.

A terrible waste and a great shame.
I wonder how many Blackpool councillors will soon be living on the new housing estate which will link St Annes to Blackpool?
As the airport has died, I guess this thread will also.

The council that spent the 'rainy day fund' - Shame this airport is coming to an end like this.
Had the load factors been small, the airport underused - That would have been different.
The only things small were the brains of Blackpool airport management and Blackpool councillors - I am glad I don't have to live in a town run by such idiots.

There is more chance of me going to the moon than a big commercial operation returning to blk. citywing will be all there will be - their flogging more or less everything in the terminal and more - no body'll come back that's for sure. what will happen to the terminal ? i hear aldi are looking to build a supermarket on squires gate lane - they may as well turn the terminal into that it's about the right size
