Are there new restrictions on all these Dash 8s not being able to land at LCY. It never used to be like this. Luxair and FlyBe again this morning despite the weather at LCY being OK. I assume it is airframe icing.

I can't imagine too many EMB195 pilots sitting around in Europe and UK noses deep into the Daily Mail! What will happen if they cant recruit crews? Would they sub-charter? That would be expensive I think. Hope they find the crews in time.

Still showing a 92-seat aircraft on Flybe booking system, so that may well be the case. Also another 6 diverts today, bringing this week's total to 30!

The Daily Mail advert for crews smacks of desperation to me unfortunately. If you were going to advertise in the national press I would have thought the Daily Telegraph and/or The Guardian would have been more suitable.

PowdAir
Another start-up airline called PowdAir wants to start ski flights from a Sion base (Switzerland). Flights to Sion from SEN are due to start from December 2017, using a 109 seat Trade Air Fokker 100. Full website and booking system goes live in Easter (supposedly). PowdAir will then seek its own AOC for Winter 2018/19 flights.

From CH-Aviation:
PowdAir (Sion) is a virtual carrier looking to offer direct flights from various UK, Dutch, and Belgian airports to Sion located in the heart of Switzerland’s most popular winter sports region, the Valais.
The start-up said in a statement that effective December 17 onwards, it will offer flights from Sion to each of London Southend, Bournemouth, Southampton, Bristol Int'l, Manchester Int'l and Edinburgh in the UK as well as Brussels in Belgium, and Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Operations are on-board two Fokker 100s chartered from Croatia's Trade Air (C3, Zagreb).
Transfers from Sion to the ski resorts of Verbier, Zermatt, Crans-Montana, Zinal-Grimentz, Leukerbad and Anzčre will be available.

I believe they have the backing of the local tourist board and tour operators. This comes after Swiss International Airlines successfully trialled a few flights from Heathrow to Sion earlier this year.

I wish them all the best with this. Just two observations;
Special aircraft and pilot requirements needed to operate out of Sion with it’s 6 degree IGS approach and the last few miles on a visual 3.5 degree slope. Can a Fokker 100 do 6 degree’s?
Sion and it’s neighbouring ski resorts are at the posh end of the spectrum – even for Switzerland! Lots of private jets and heli-skiing around there. The visitor demographics somehow don’t fit well with departures from secondary airports like SEN.

I see from a post on the Air Humberside forum that Stobart Group Limited have issued an RNS statement today announcing that they have completed the purchase of the remaining 33% interest in Propius (the leasing company that owns the Aer Lingus Regional fleet) from Aer Lingus. The Stobart Group now owns 100% of Propius.
In addition they announce that they have also completed the acquisition of the remaining 19% interest in Everdeal Holdings Limited, the holding company of Stobart Air. The Stobart Group now owns 100% of Stobart Air.
