Let's be honest, ALL airports can be difficult to get to. Gridlocked roads from one small shunt or endless roadworks. Expensive trains, lines closed at weekend for so called upgrade works, blighted by industrial action at times (constantly in LGW's case). I think there has to be a compelling need for a domestic route for it to succeed. If flying could just be a turn up and hop on option, then SEN to almost anywhere over 100 miles away could be viable. Sadly, it will never be.

If and probably when Stob,s start a Manchester route, where does that leave Carlisle? I think most serious observers don't/can,t believe Carlisle will ever take off..just a small gullible local population fell for that one?
Stobart got what they wanted there and Southend will continue to develop ,all being slowly as that's were a Stobart really want to be??

Driving down from Suffolk tonight there were fairly random spots of surprisingly dense fog throughout the route. There is predicted to be disruption across the south tomorrow.

Fog
If they are accepting LCY diversions it is a shame that this seems to be at the expense of getting the based aircraft outbound! Malaga 3 hours late if indeed it has departed, Alicante 1 hour late and Amsterdam at least 2 hours late or yet to depart...

Don't think there's any connection between LCY diverts and late EZY departures. No, actually I know there isn't, because that would be silly.
It also gets silly when SEN gets blamed for the fog as in 'Leaves on the runway'.

Stopped in at the airport this morning about 11.00 and conditions seemed pretty marginal although there was quite a bit of activity (couldn't see much of it because of the fog), but did hear that a Belgian RJ100 is due in this afternoon for maintenance.
Would assume this will be with Jota, which must be a good sign as I can't think of any maintenance being carried out at SEN since Inflight stopped. Let's hope this will be another successful string to Jota's bow.
Also heard that their 146 G-SMLA is being returned to it's owners so would expect a replacement RJ85 will be shortly forthcoming.

Geneva actually operated today using an EZY Switzerland A320 (GVA-SEN-GVA).
As for maintenance, JOTA have advertised for aircraft maintenance roles for the new facility they are setting up.

SEN-MAN haha good one, however it would be handy for my family as the drive from Cheshire to Essex can be long and boring so would be good for me but I can't see my family keeping the route profitable if indeed it ever comes about.
As for SEN-CAX does anybody really see this happening? I just don't see it as Stobarts only wanted CAX for the land to build big sheds that they can lease or sell, not to make a all singing and dancing airport.

There was a time when developing CAX as an airport was probably on the agenda alongside other commercial development. Now, I doubt whether aviation at CAX gets a mention under Any Other Business.
It has been tough for Stobart at SEN, despite a dramatic start, soaring to over a million pax in no time at all. Now they've decided to take matters into their own hands to try to get the airport growing again.
Stobart are renowned for their expertise in logistics and that has to be good in any business. But people are not freight or biomass. They make their own mind up. In order to do that they have to be aware of what you have to offer and be persuaded to choose you in preference to others. So I really hope were are going to see some decent marketing from the airport and soon.
