And yes....the operations of MalethAero in Malta told me 3 days ago that they know nothing about Sea-Air. Dont you find that strange?

Malerh-Aero are more than aware of Sea Air. In their recent job adverts for cabin crew and pilots for the SEN and PAD based aircraft they even say Sea Air are their client! So either someone in Malta is fibbing or they are poorly informed. http://www.latestpilotjobs.com/jobs/view/id/7188.html

Not that I'm convinced Sea Air, mind.

SEN - Venice

Definitely end of Venice flights from either base. Slightly strange as not a STN destination for EZY. Just commercial decision I guess.

I guess we will have to wait another 4 weeks to see if the SEN operation by Sea-Air starts as planned. The Paderborn flights are now listed on the PAD airports website to start 2nd May, so we can watch that operation as a clue perhaps. Still no denying that Stobart's silence / delay in a press statement adds to the mystery / frustration.

9H-AJW sits silently at Lasham currently and that is a B737-300 operated by Maleth-Aero.

I'm not sure that Stobart are completely silent on the Sea Air operation. After all, don't forget that Munich and Osijek appear on the SEN website as new routes:

Barling Magna.

I do not call that a press release or adequate publicity. With 500 seats for sale most days, I wonder how many punters actually think to go to an airport website and plough through all the sub-divisions looking for news. They need to see it in their faces via the local newspapers (as confirmed and not merely a planned route) and regular advertising afterwards.

Sea Air are currently on level par with OLT Express Germany in terms of publicity by the airport (i.e. visible on website, but no official announcement).

I agree. I merely pointed out that they haven't been completely silent.

I think they've said as little as is reasonable in the circumstances.

My own lack of comment on Sea-Air is hopefully self-explanatory.

What Southend needs is a strong airline that will enhance the reputation of the airport rather than a risky new boy with a stuttering start and a future that might not be rosy with its lack of proven history.

It could be better for Southend in the long term that the airline didn't come rather than fail after a short while, as it could add to the perception that Southend is an airport where it is hard to turn a profit thus helping to keep the more established airlines away.

On the other hand would Southend want to turn away any business but they might if they thought they were not going to get paid for services provided. It's a tough call for the airport I guess.

As a side issue who provides the fuel at Southend? If it is Stobart they won't be too keen to extend their credit too far.

That is a very good summary of the situation in my opinion.

Stobart are the fuel provider at SEN.

Thomson 2017

Think the potential 2nd weekly rotation to Palma Mallorca might be due to their increased fly-cruise package holidays.

"On sale from late April, Thomson Cruises’ summer 2017 programme includes flights from 22 regional airports, with new routes from London Southend to Palma,..."

Thomson Cruises is ringing the changes with its 2017 programme

"easyJet opens recruitment for 450 pilot positions"

From media centre. Let's hope their planned growth benefits SEN in some way.

Lasham site...

Check Companies House and I think the answer is NO! No assets, no turnover, not a lot of anything.

Thomson 2017

So the 2017 brochure confirms that Palma Mallorca is up to 2x weekly. Some good news, albeit small scale.

Thomson 2017

Will they be using their own aircraft for both, or using EasyJet's service to Palma?

I am not sure how the pax stats by CAA are calculated. For example 2 x Luxair Dash 8s diverted in together during March, almost full loads. But only 11 pax showing on stats. Are these figures only outbound loads on diversion flights?

Volotea will operate on both Tuesday and Saturday. First flight is on Tuesday 23rd May 2017.

Tuesday:
PMI (10:30) --> SEN (12:00)
SEN (12:35) --> PMI (15:55)

Saturday:
PMI (09:10) --> SEN (10:25)
SEN (11:00) --> PMI (14.20)

Shows some positivity from TOM, especially after their planned expansion announced in 2013 with all the press coverage, that was then later cancelled.
