More based GA operators, more resident aircraft. Hangars are fuller. Won't make a difference to any one on here but more non-aviation companies as well. Most I've seen in the ten years I've been following the airport.

Reports suggest a Kennels with 60 Greyhounds has been given notice to leave, and the caravan storage facility has been told their lease will not be renewed.

Making way for the houses?

2,100 houses

Maybe Peel have realised there is another company with a plan to build a further 2000+ houses up the road, which looks like it will be given the green light.

Plan to allow 2,150 homes to be built to the west of Stockton unveiled (From Darlington and Stockton Times)

Could it be Master Plan 3 time? Houses on the south side as well

Remarkable how many people apparently want to live in an area with no jobs

At risk of steering the thread off topic, if people were willing to get their hands dirty and shovel st for a living until something better comes along instead of choosing to remain on benefits, then the jobs are there.

On one of the plans the camper van sales company is moved to near the George hotel in a smart sales unit, allowing houses on the current camper site.

With the dogs gone that might stop all of the barking and howling! That will just leave the local councillor to do the barking and howling!!

Generating cash which will "hopefully" be re-invested in hangars which are desperately needed at the moment.

So where has the money that Peel promised to invest in the first place when getting the airport for a pittance?
I wish those who support Peel/who ever they are this week could wake up!
The housing development will kill the airport not support it. Likelihood is they ll get a one of payment which they ll squander or offset against losses from previous years. If there was a plan for renting and securing a yearly income from it I maybe a little more supportive.

I don't like it anymore than anyone else but covering annual losses was always part of the promised investment, and when you look at it from that angle they've spent significantly more than promised.

There's a section 106 being drawn up to stop that from happening.

Ah always makes me chuckle...being told to wake up/pull my head out of the sand/take my rose-tinted glasses off - all comments that apply equally as much to the negative brigade as they do to the supporters.

The point being made was, isn't it odd that so many houses - almost all of them private - are being built in England's most economically disadvantaged area. People who "shovel s**t" for a living won't be buying those houses. The sad fact is, companies like Peel make a living out of getting planning consents for housing - not necessarily for actually building those houses.

Treading water?

a look at the excellent DTV website today..told the story.

2 x KLM FK70 departures
3 maybe 4 Jetstream departures
2 Helicopter departures. And.
2 PA28 departures....

Didn't count the Falcons and local flights(not many)(pre contracted)

Now please tell me...how can a thriving, future proofed airport exist on this level of traffic?
Sorry Cautious and 707ZS, Not doubting your undoubted passion and commitment..but commitment Is becoming not enough? To coin a premiership phrase( for certain clubs)...we are running out of games(months)

To coin a phrase - you "sweat the assets", i.e. make every part of the airport earn their keep. So housing, hangars, warehousing, etc.

Also, is a Wednesday in February one of the busiest days of the year at any airport in the UK? Plenty of parked up metal at Newcastle today!

It would be interesting to see a break down of income from the regions airports and see what bits make money. I was eyeing up a flight from Newcastle to Alicante which was £9.50, no profit there! other airports charging £30 a day for car parking as the flights don't take much money.

DTVAs hangars are at capacity for aircraft, office and storage space is almost full in the hangars. We have three busy flying training companies and yes the falcons are still busy.

Careful SWBKCB / N707ZS - you'll be getting stick next for trying to defend the place! Despite everything you said being logical / factual!
