DURHAM TEES VALLEY AIRPORT - 6
There has been a survey team working in that area this week.
And an Airbus A330 turned up this afternoon and parked up on stand one for the night. Just shows they can still handle large aircraft if they want to.

news?? Not really ...
All quiet at moment...holding our breath with quite a few loose ends!!
Hope the pensions thing gets sorted..talking to a guy last night in the pub!! Says even Newcastle laying off ATC staff..so if things are bad there..God help us all!!
It's a reflection on the whole NE Region...its in a mess and although airports are needed, they cost a lot of money to operate.

Airport court case
Following the airport court case did Peel receive the BMI compensation payout as I couldn't see anything in the DTV airport accounts?
Durham Tees Valley Airport wins landmark ruling against bmibaby
On the subject of secret meetings. Have Peel broken their contract with the 6 councils by trying to opt out of the initial contract pension plan, or have they opted out by selling to VAS before buying DTV shares again?

Link road requiring £5M of public funding, should add substantial value to Peels property portfolio. I'd say Peel's master plan is running along just fine, albeit a bit slowly.
One could also adopt the view that without flights then there was much less chance of the road being developed.
So keeping the airport open remains of benefit to Peel, despite having to subsidise the loss in relation to aviation related operations... at least for the present..................

Main point of the arguments
It is hoped that Mr Wharton will use his influence to rescue the declining airport while there is still time.
And that's what they thought at the Steel works. When has Mr Wharton been interested in the airport before?

Nice to see the new Cargo Logic Air 747-400F land and park up on the ramp today during its training flights.
General cargo flights are also on the up at the moment with two or three on some days, long may it continue.

We thought Jersey would be back as it was/is making money.
One for PZU and the gang, was the airport in profit when there were 918,000 passengers? I don't think so. Over its history is rarely broken even.

Staff and class of fire cover at DTV
A letter printed in tonights Evening Gazette mentions that DTV Airport has reduced its fire cover so larger passenger planes can't operate.
Is this the case and have fire staff lost their jobs or retired and no new staff brought it?
The writer mentions that Peel did the same thing at Sheffield Airport. Does this mean large passenger aircraft which the likes of Thomsons use can't operate anymore?
