Are you saying that DL flights ex EDI were/are half empty?
Yes, average outwith the three month summer peak EDI-ATL year round was barely 60%.

Perhaps if they had actually advertised the service, it could have done better.

a common misconception now with booking methods nowadays. Its not the sort of route that someone would have seen an advert of a bus and thought- aah yeah I love to visit Georgia. Booking engines and the Expedias of the world are how these routes work or dont. A huge chunk who did actually used this route were connecting anyway. Skyteam and their cheaper KL AMS connectors where a big part in its downfall. A 763 is quite a lot to fill daily on this sort of route. I cant see what has changed now. JFK and OneWorld is different. Can the Local Aviosers resist Concorde Lounge LHR connect for the height of summer ? Presumably in a different league to the failed BA "scheduled" IBZ experiment.

Ay-Men to that! I used the service very frequently when it ran, so much so that I was on first name terms with the same immigration agent at ATL, and that was the one consistent bitch from all of the DL crews was that there was not one bit of publicity for the flight in the US and I think I only saw one billboard for the flight & that was within 2 weeks of the service finishing.

My colleagues in the US had no idea that DL were running the service, not even the Company travel agent knew about it. no wonder it got pulled.

Delta have a history of changing the scheduling of flights in the USA. I booked
EDI-ATL and connections to the northern USA western towns/cities on a couple of occasions. The itinerary was consistently changed by Delta and overnight stays became necessary.

Seems the security at EDI has caused some upset.

The problem with so-called 'celebrities' being they expect instant recognition
and VIP fast tracking. Perhaps EDI's new Google Glasses will identify them as VIPs and they will receive the adoration and special treatment they crave.?

Re Ian Rankin and EDI security. Nothing to do with celebrity status. See my post number 367 in this thread. EDI security needs sorted!

Excellent. Didn't BD do EDI-CPH and GLA-CPH?

Never used to be like this, is it a case of "if ain't broke, don't fix it"?

"Improvements" and long queues also occuring at Heathrow-5 at present.

Most carriers have email contact details of pax. Maybe they should get in touch with an automated "no-reply" email advising pax to arrive even earlier when these "improvements" are causing longer security queues.

Otherwise it's an "ambush", pax turn up as normal without any idea of what is going on, and risk missing their flights.

Yes BD and SAS have operated it at various times over the years.

Pretty sure SAS only operated Stockholm in the past. B736 and MD90 once upon a time. GLA-CPH was operated by SAS from around 1968-1994, DC-9s.

BMI REGIONAL carried the Star banner and SK code on GLA/EDI-CPH in recent years, it was only dropped very recently if I remember.

About 40 years ago, British Caledonian operated Edinburgh-Copenhagen and Glasgow-Stockholm (or it might have been the other way round), in both cases via Newcastle, using the BAC 1-11.

The timings were such that passengers could change flights at Newcastle, so BCal effectively ran flights to both Scandinavian capitals from both of Scotland's major cities.

SAS service EDI-CPH will have to compete with existing services from easyJet and Norwegian. Looking at SAS prices for May on Skyscanner they seem a wee bit expensive but hopefully they will come into line and help keep all prices competitive
