With St Pancras and Eurostar with 14 trains a day to Paris city centre just a 23 minute train journey away I am surprised that EasyJet has made a go of the route so I wouldn't be too despondent.

That will be the airports 6th hotel. I think it will be located opposite the Ibis on open ground by the roundabout. I can remember when the airport had no hotels.

As for Luton remaining at number one spot for business jets I am always surprised how badly Stansted does when it is also open 24/7 and has good links to the capital.

It is always an eye opener looking at Google maps satellite images of all the London airports. Luton is jammed packed in every corner while all the other airports have room to spare with half empty business jet aprons.

Reading between the lines it looks like Harrods will be using Cranfield as an overflow airport for its Luton operation.

How accurate is that list, to say Exeter handles more business jets than Stansted does!

And to say my local airport handles more than Stansted I find unbelievable.

Yes it would be nice to see actual figures!
Anyway Luton apparently has one of the longest runways according to that report.

Stansted does have quite a few business jets each day. However, they are generally the bigger ones such as 747s, 767s and other assorted mediums plus the usual Gulfstreams and Globals. I guess 1 747 equals about 10 Gulfstreams in landing and parking fees! But it is quite busy during the off-peak times with operators using Harrods, Fayair and Inflight.

I think the report is based around charters, Netjets, London Executive Aviation, Air Charter Scotland etc. rather than Company or State owned Jets.

I have to pick a friend up a week on Monday, the 22nd, arriving at 18:05 from Jersey, with hand baggage only. Anyone know how congested it is likely to be with traffic at that time of the evening?

I took this screenshot at 18:05. Basically the road into the airport was fine but the road from the M1 was congested with local rush hour traffic. I would allow an extra 15 minutes from the M1

Just to make clear,the two posters on here yesterday together with the drift onto the SEN thread with pastings of articles regarding corporate business in the UK, both have tongues firmly in cheek.....They are both nous enough & experienced enough within the industry to know full well tho true as far as it goes it is certainly skewed towards certain segments of the market only & does not fully reflect the larger & overall picture.....

I think the overall picture is that Luton can struggle to cope with business jet traffic with regards to parking and is way out in front of any other London airport in part due to it being available 24/7.

Stansted, which is also 24/7 should be doing better.

Both Farnborough and Biggin Hill are doing very well but have limited hours.

Northolt seems to have extra restrictions but again is doing well.

London City is too expensive and for some reason Southend is not even on the starting blocks.

I have read that putting an bizjet through Luton costs half the amount of Farnborough.

A big lure for the executive jet operator is the availability of trained engineers on site. Certainly an 'aircraft on the ground' is not what the client wants.

Pax 1.341m up 16.1% (month), 15.2m up 17.2% (YoY)
ATMs 11,306 up 6.1% (month), 135,185 up 10.9% (YoY)

Easter in April.
