Britain’s equality watchdog has criticised British airlines and British Airways (BA) in particular – for their treatment of disabled customers as legal action is taken by an actor over alleged damage to her wheelchair.
https://www.theguardian.com/business...ed-wheelchairs
“She has been left without a replacement chair for eight months. We’re not talking about a suitcase or a set of golf clubs – this is a person’s mobility and independence.
“Considering that BA is a main sponsor of Team GB, I think it’s fair to ask whether this practice would equally apply to competing athletes, and if so, whether the Paralympic team been made aware that British Airways will not cover the full cost if their equipment is damaged.”

British Airways are to commence a service from Heathrow to Innsbruck, operating 4 weekly in Winter and 2 weekly in Summer.

Switched off cabin crew

Earlier in week flew LHR - YYC in WT Plus on 787.
Was taken aback by "take it or leave it" attitude of cabin crew.
Nothing majorly awful but...
#My pre ordered meal arrived. My wife's did not. No apology

#Tea served. "Would you have spoon or stirrer please?" Reply "No" and moved swiftly on to next row!

# Went to rear to ask for Cola about 6 hours in. Left standing for quite a while by 2 stewards. Eventually wordlessly handed tin and back turned!

Crew was almost all in their 20s. Cabin service director quite young too... Interested in forums views whether this might explain the surly service??

no - the older ones can be just as bad - it's pot luck with BA and has been for years - as opposed to most US long haul who are uniformly awful........................

If you fly often enough with a particular airline you will soon notice how different cabin crews can be. Sometimes it's a consequence of the Chief Purser's/CSD's/Number 1's own attitude. My wife is former CC and she told me that was the case in her days. They had a small number of Number 1s who made the rest of the crew miserable and consequently they just went through the motions.

To my great surprise I have even had the odd great experience with American carriers!

Crews are variable. I've had good and bad with most. You can get them looking at you askance for asking for alcohol. If I'm on holiday, I don't care what time of what global clock it is! Mostly, BA are good. Just in passing: The telegraph :
Quote:
British Airways has abandoned flights to Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh resort "indefinitely" amid terror fears in a blow to the country’s tourism industry.

No flights have operated between the UK and the Red Sea resort since November last year after the bombing of a Russian passenger plane, which killed 224 people.

BA had previously only cancelled flights up until specific dates pending a change in Government advice.
Link is a little garbled but should work: British Airways abandons flights to Egypt?s Sharm el-Sheikh resort 'indefinitely' amid terror fears

Does anyone know why BA are using Dreamliners to GLA, there have been three on flights in the last week.

Crew or equipment shortage?

I thought that was why they have the Jet-time 73's operating currently?

According to thebasource.com there have been 3 x Airbus tech, each for five days in Bergen, Stockholm and Larnaca. Can't have helped!

The birthday celebrations were at the beginning of May so, yes, probably just a coincidence.

There was an Airbus at Gibraltar recently which seemed to have not moved for over a week.

YYC is operated by Mixed Fleet, Did you ask to speak to the Customer Service Manager to complain?.

Indeed it was, though GLA don't seem to have marked that event, perhaps they used up all their balloons and ticker-tape in the celebrations on May 2nd.

And if BA's use of a 787 on the 27th (and on the previous day, too) was intended to tie in with the anniversary of the Queen's official opening in 1966, instead of being just a consequence of having 3 AOG Airbuses, they don't seem to have told any of the media about it.

Sometimes coincidences are just coincidence ...

I'm reminded of the day that British Midland introduced their "Diamond Service" onto GLA-LHR, mid-1980s. BA went and put a Concorde on the Shuttle to London, as they used to occasionally, ostensibly for publicity but it was actually just as much a training/currency flight that would otherwise have operated to/from Shannon. It arrived right in the middle of BMA's press conference at GLA about their new service. Not a journalist remained in the room

No I didn't take it any further. Will be returning YVR to LHR next month on A380 so will be interesting to contrast.
Is this a Mixed Fleet op also?

Thanks for your advice.

A lot of passengers might take the view that making a complaint about Cabin Crew while still on the aircraft wouldn't be the wisest of choices.....
