Airport operator London Luton Airport Operations has not set out a formal timetable but issued a OJEU notice today highlighting its plan to issue a prequalification notice in the next few months.
So we are looking at around another years delay before work starts on expansion I would think.

You asked LTN MAN but I think I am the only person on the thread to have been on TAROM

I have flown with Tarom, Ilyushin 62 out of Gatwick to Constanza many years ago, and a day trip from there to Bucharest on a Antonov 24. I think the pilots of the AN24 were ex Mig 21 drivers. They certainly chucked it around like one, and then they were off the a/c before we were!

Pretty much, although on the internal flight we had to pay for the coffee, this being the early 80s, it was the first time I'd had to do this, and it was a cup of black sludge - ugh.

RIGHT

3 things BOEING ENG
1. I don't know why you are ruining my hobby but calling me a troll is one rude and two completely stupid seeing as I probably know more about planes than you.
2. You call me a troll, but it seems that it's actually BOEING 737-8 who is trolling going on about emirates and rubbish like that.
3. I know what I am on about and so do you, so let's leave it there.

Thank you

Parkway

Over 300-400000 passengers are expected to use a new plan by LTN airport and department of transport to run at least 2 services between luton parkway and st pancreas each morning due to the lack of appropriate services at the moment.

Strangely enough the bus companies seemed to profit from St Jude's storm!

Hmm just 2 for now.

Where do all the BMI regional flights go to from Luton.. They seem to be so regular now. Are they all 1 off charters or are they operating a specific route for a company? Must see them 2 or 3 times a week.

Practically all football related charters. QPR to and from Manchester on Wednesday to play Wigan. If Arsenal are at home expect flights from Manchester, Liverpool, Sunderland, Newcastle, Cardiff, Swansea etc. on the day before the match. There should be a flight from Liverpool today because there are playing Arsenal tomorrow. Not always BMR, Arsenal usually uses Eastern for domestic away matches.

Over 300-400000 passengers are expected to use a new plan by LTN airport and department of transport to run at least 2 services between luton parkway and st pancreas each morning due to the lack of appropriate services at the moment
Documents supporting the new rail franchise, issued on September 26, stipulate there must be a minimum of two trains per hour arriving at Luton Airport Parkway between 3am and 6.59am from Blackfriars on Monday to Saturday morning, with a maximum interval of 40 minutes between consecutive arrivals. At the moment there is an hourly service from 3am until 5.24 so we they are talking about 2 extra trains.

From the airports website:

Under a new approach from the DfT to engage all stakeholders in how rail franchises can be better managed and improved, London Luton will now work closely with train operators shortlisted for the TSGN franchise to ensure their bids meet the requirements of Airport users. These include:

Operating a timetable for the benefit of existing and future passengers

Designing rolling stock with Airport passengers in mind, such as improved luggage facilities

Introducing a simplified ticketing option, such as smartcards

Creating a distinct identity at each station to promote and guide air passengers to the service

Addressing the confusion of a separate charge for the shuttle bus between Luton Airport Parkway and the Terminal

Glyn Jones, Managing Director of London Luton Airport, said: “Rail access to London Luton is already highly competitive in terms of speed, frequency and cost, and the new franchise arrangements will improve that offer even further”.

“This latest move helps us to achieve our aim of increasing the proportion of passengers who travel by public transport to more than 40% by 2017; a key consideration in our plan to develop in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way and improve the overall experience for our passengers”.
