Starting to feel like BHD will be a 1 aircraft base for Winter 2013, with an additional airbus joining the lone unit in summer for the sun routes.
Has it been confirmed that the sun routes will not continue through winter? They operated through winter at BFS didn't they?

I doubt Aer Lingus would leave BHD as a single route base in the winter never mind a single aircraft base!

Faro hasn't being year round outside of DUB for a number of years and PMI will never be year round for EI. They won't base another aircraft to operate AGP which at most would be 3 or 4 weekly. LGW is a 1 aircraft base and SNN is sort of as well..

Most schedules will be confirmed in the next 6 weeks or so.

Shamrock350,

They didnt operate BHD winter routes last year. It would seem that if they were interested in maintaining a presence on Winter European routes, they would have avoided a gap over the winter.

Assuming they were unhappy with the performance over the previous winter on these routes, I cannot see much opportunities except perhaps a return to a GVA route, that was operated in their first season in BFS (winter), when they were not well established from at BFS.

Not opening up another debate about what routes may/ may not work. I feel that if EI were up for it and in it for the long run, especially given BE's present challenges, they would have had BHD LGW Winter schedule on sale. Afterall, the current marketing campaign is so extensive all centred around BHD LGW, bill boards all over the place including the sides of buses have the GATWICK FOR LESS at £25.99 message emblazened on them, it would seem a shame that after all this spend they would simply abandon the route.

Sounds like we will have to wait and see.

EI-A330-300,

Maybe Thomson Airways are code sharing with EI for this summer?

Thomson

Thomson are a charter airline owned by TUI so why would you think they would ever code share with a scheduled airline such as EI?

That more or less explains it then then Cloud1.

As in blockselling seats on a scheduled airlines to certain sun destinations as in the Flybe case esp ex SOU and very similar to what Thomas Cook are doing with some Easyjet flights ex LGW.

Talking FLYBE Gatwick

Sunday Times today reports talks between Flybe and Easy on sale of up to 25 paired slots at Gatwick at up to £20m.
Other airlines alleged to be interested.
Who will benefit most in NI if this goes through?

I may be wrong but the way the article reads it sounds like they are selling every slot they have potentially

BHD LGW

The fact that EI have not yet launched a Winter schedule makes some sense, they are clearly waiting out to see what happens next. Given that BHD LGW was BE's largest route, necessitating multiple 195 per day, one that has been resilient continuing to grow even when FR arrived in BHD, who were carrying 30k pax p/m on STN, it will be amazing if they axe it.

That said, it may be great opportunity for EI. Would it be conceiveable that EI and BE could work together? Codeshare and in that way EI could take on all passengers who are wanting to use connecting services onto TCX, Virgin etc. working with EI could have upsides, connectivity to EI's routes ex DUB from EXT, CFN and SOU, while at the same time potentially avoiding EI launching additional BHD UK domestic routes?

In a recent press release possibly BE celebrating 10 years on EXT to DUB there was reference made about passengers overnighting in DUB to go onwards to the US.

Could this mean focusing on a new London airport? LTN STN or SEN?
I think I read on here a few months ago about possible routes to STN

As the CAA stats are slightly different to Spanish ones, here are the LF on sun routes.

FAO 61%
AGP 62%
PMI 43%

It always tends to be around May or June, it's not like the other bases have had much news either. The LHR routes usually seem constant so I never read too much into that when they appear and the others don't.

Interesting to see the early load factors, FAO and AGP seem decent and should grow considerably in the coming months but PMI looks a tad low, any particular reason for this, how many flights actually operated?

PMI was a couple flights end of month and I doubt anyone would have flown on the first 2 inbound. LGW looked healthy. Also BFS seemed to loose a lot on AGP and FAO.

I believe Palma started on 2nd April so it ran full month, twice weekly

On FAO

EI 6372 pax
EZY 8793 pax

Both operated daily flights

Aer Lingus will not be operating any sun flights from BHD during the winter.

That will be why today's EZY two flights to FAO and two flights to AGP are full then.
