Selex is the cheapest of the cheap with its other UK installations having major problems. Looks like the new shareholders are looking at a £5m problem

Radar still unserviceable according to the atis, my knowledge of radar is limited but I wouldn't class £5mill as cheap!

The sale process has gone quiet after that little leak to press, wonder is it a done deal or simply a fishing expedition for 3i.

...the importance of strategic spares...expensive to buy, even more expensive when you need them, but they're not on the shelf...

Pan.....not so sure about the bad luck. They managed to sign a contract with the only organization with a set of serviceable radars who COULD help them out just before they ran out of shillings for the meter.

How serendipitous.......

Not heard about BRU but given the 2 terrorist atrocities one of which being at BRU, cancelations, re-routing, extra security and the sheer number of people who either won't go there now or haven't been able to connect at BRU (and social media would suggest they exist judging by the queries) then I can't see any great number of fliers, I think 2 flights operated to ANR in March which should show up on the next CAA figures, and again that was a few days after the attacks so don't expect a lot!

There was Dash did a go-around just after 2100...on approach to 04, broke off quite early...before crossing the Newtownards Road. Perhaps BE488?

The radars belong to BFS not NATS and the word on the street is that BFS management are running out of patience with BHD and may pull the plug on the service. Interesting to see how long this will continue as the airlines must be starting to get fed up taking additional fuel. Mr A's new shareholders may not be very happy campers either.

Not quite. Only ONE belongs to BFS. The secondary belongs to NATS en route and is separate from, but used by, NATS at BFS.

BFS management has been more than generous in assisting BHD. I would have sent them an invoice a long time ago.

What's happening at Belfast City this evening, seems to be several aircraft holding around it?

At time of writing BE910 LPL-BHD, EIN949 AGP-BHD, EI37 LHR-BHD are all holding.

Appears to be a major safety issue in the pipeline. Although BHD is responsible for radar does NATS ATC have any say in the matter
Views welcome

Don't quite understand what you mean Gazmo. Try rephrasing the question and I may be able to comment.

Hi Eastern
I'm no expert in radar issues but I was wondering if there are major problems with the radar system at BHD would NATS (assuming they are in control) pull the plug on flights until the system is fixed?
