'cos them's the rules.

Don't blame the crew. They're just doing their job each day following the rules imposed on them by the company. If you want to make/change the rules, you can do so when you're the boss.

Anyone got a better answer than this.....seeing as the CAA take the lead on issuing this guidance, why are the airlines not all implementing it?

Regardless it is the airline who makes the rules as an adaptation of the civil aviation authorities ruling. In this case Jet2 want ALL customers to have their device OFF for takeoff and landing which as people have said above is not hard.

You, have clearly wanted to disobey a crew order, which with Jet2 may result in you been told your a disruptive passenger and potentially you could be banned from flying.

Making you take them out might just save your life if something goes horribly wrong.

Next time you are asked to remove them by a member of cabin crew don't forger to apologise and thank them for pointing out your oversight!

Yes, I agree. Whilst the cabin crew do come down the aisle with their trollies selling you food and drink, let's not forget that they are there primarily FOR YOUR SAFETY.

If they ask you to do something, they are doing so with the delegated authority of the aircraft captain, who under the Air Navigation Order is solely responsible for the safety of the aircraft and all on board. Disobeying a 'request' by the cabin crew can, as intimated above, lead to action by the captain (with the full backing of Jet2), up to and including diversion, offload and arrest.

I expect so, after all it wouldn't make any sense to extend the lease for the aircraft only to be making a few TA flights. My guess is it will be deployed largely on Canary Island flights from the likes of Manchester and Stansted, with some regular maintenance downtime thrown in.

I think a few planes out of Doncaster might just shake Leeds up a bit.
the service at Leeds is dire with a half mile walk to the Faro flight .
Why they have not built along that elevation god only knows. Doncaster road link is better and it does not suffer with so many diversions in periods of stormy weather.
They could then drop in there if the wind or fog was too bad and move psg by road.
It would stand 4 aircraft at the least.

DSA management would not want to upset/lose TUI, Jet2 would not want to lose the deals they have with MAG for MAN and EMA. If you want to use Jet2 out of Yorkshire, you will need to endure LBA for the foreseeable.

I am travelling to Palma from Newcastle in September on the Saturday evening flight which looks to be operated by EC-IDT which is the Palma based Air Europa 737. I was just wondering if anybody knows if this has Jet2 crew and Jet2 interior?

Hi, yes the aircraft has the jet2 seats inside this year as well as all other long term leased in aircraft apart from the Titan A321. It is however only configured to Y186 and not Y189 per other jet2 B738's. It's in work today so if I can get you some photos I will and PM them to you. The cabin crew are all jet2.com cabin crew, mostly from the UK seconded to Palma for the summer. The flight deck are Air Europa flight deck.

I see that Jethros is reporting that B737-300 G-CELK will be one of the first 300's to be withdrawn from use at the end of October 17.
