Cardiff would be the next logical step in my opinion... I reckon it could easily sustain 4 or 5 aircraft at least. BOH might work as a small base as could ABZ though I'd question how well they'd fit in to the Jet2 network. All of Jet2's bases tend to be quite extensive with a good number of routes based aircraft. They don't operate like TOM it seems who'll have one or two aircraft based at the likes of EXT, NWI and DSA.

Totally agree with that CWL would be the best logistical move for Jet2 but it's been a rumour for many years now.....they would go head to head with EasyJet at BRS and would be a perfect fit for CWL

It's a little sad really that Jet2 seem to be the only real hope of expansion for the UK tour operator activity & regional airports. Good on Jet2, but look how the Germans have kept TUI and TC same old - with exceptions of TC's USA flights at MAN. Regarding where they expand, the relationship with MAG seems very strong, so BOH must be a favourite - and kills off any chance of DSA.

Shame that they'll probably never go into DSA, they'd blow TUI out of the water. Folk around here love a Jet2holiday (but generally speaking, dislike LBA and the old dears insist on paying over the odds to go TUI from DSA).

I suppose from their point of view it would cannibalise too many sales from EMA and LBA.

They've made positive noises about Cardiff before, so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them launch there for 2019.

The Hilton Hotel at Bournemouth is having a recruitment day on the 24 Aug which has been booked for a long time now ( friend works there in the conference suite and its the first time they have had an airline take up a day here )
It is more than likely a road show for cabin crew though and probably doesn't mean anything at all so no speculation as yet ( STN base ? )

Jet 2 go around the country each year doing this , I would love to be proved wrong though !!

A bit far afield for Stansted recruitment though?

I'm pretty certain new base announcements always come before any recruitment drive for a new base.

Interesting if Bournemouth was a new base, even in whatever fullness of time. It is of course where Channex first started. Full circle??

and maybe a tad too much presence at my home airport, NCL.
Really ? So would you prefer to see less services from Jet2 ? What a strange thing to say...

I agree, it's completely ridiculous and awful that your average north east punter can have the choice of 30-something destinations from their local airport, and not only that, because of their over-presence, they can fly almost any day they choose, for an amount of time of their choosing!

Don't even get me started on these extra flights they're doing over the winter... I mean, New York, Vienna, Munich... What has the world come to!

Probably because you were ignoring the requirement to to switch all electronic devices, even those in flight mode, off for take off/landing until the fasten seat belts sign is switched off. Yes, other airlines allow electronic device usage during all stages of flight, but Jet2 doesn't. Maybe listen to the cabin announcements in future? It's only for 15-20 mins, surely you can last that long without your iPhone fix? Maybe read a book (a real, paper book!) next time?

Eeek!

Have you seen the hardness and density of modern hardback novels? And those pointy corners... Rather more dangerous as an unintended projectile in an emergency than a phone.
