Yeah, I only suggested those ones because Links Air also operates there. IOM is probably least likely because Citywing tried it from Valley and did appalling passenger numbers. Makes you wonder if Valley will remain as Cardiff only with new destinations being available with through ticketing via CWL.

Maybe DSA-ABZ or GLA? GLA could surly be profitable with a J31

Yes I agree a CWL-VLY-GLA route would be a good move, but would there be passengers wanting to travel VLY-GLA sector ?? A CWL-GLA route be quite good for a J31 but who knows.....will have to wait to the 27th to find out where these 2 destinations are going to be

NQY was tried a couple of times previously.
Skybus operated it on the twotter or islander, can't remember which and air southwest operated it NQY-CWL-MAN I think.

DH8-300 was just too much aircraft for demand but that was a few years ago

Yes the loads were kind of quite high in the NQY leg and a J31 be ideal for that route too, a lot of guessing and wishful thinking for some destinations so fingers crossed it will all be announced next week.

VLY-CWL-NQY would be brilliant. I am still holding out hope for a connection between VLY and the south east, but only time will tell.

For losing money, or low passenger loads? Or both?

I know every little helps, but I can't help but feel rather underwhelmed by the excitement over a possible route for a 19-seater in an airport which already has 1 million passengers per year. Someone please tell me the business development team at Cardiff airport have bigger ambitions than this...

Cardiff Airport management are pretty much dead on arrival - their record speaks for itself unfortunately. They have lost the plot results speak volumes.

It is a real shame to have seen the decline of CWL over the past 8 years or so. Looking at Ryanair's Website, there seem to be flights to Dublin and Shannon on offer in the autumn, which is interesting. I haven't head anything about these, but they are "in the system". The excitement with Links Air isn't so much about CWL as it is VLY possibly seeing it's number of destinations triple! When was the last time that happened at LHR

NQY-CWL was operated from 2008 by Skybus (5 times a week) on a Twin Otter (17 seats) which was a 40min flight - Linksair could run a similar schedule (if NQY is a destination!) Also Air Southwest flew it daily.

Although I would expect the destinations to be MAN or LBA and maybe GCI/JER.

Ah right, shame they aren't more regular. Would be nice to see Ryanair grow at CWL, but it seems unlikely.

What about Ryanair operating CWL-FAO with an FAO based A/C?

NQY-CWL-NQY loads were awful. IOS couldn't even make it work, and they are well known in the Southwest area. NQY-MAN-NQY was what the route was for.

I'd be careful what you wish for. If Links start up GLA, do you really think another operator will come back to the route with someone already on it? Albeit a J31, the route couldn't sustain a 50 seater aircraft, never mind a 50 seater + 19 seater. Prices will be sky high.
T3 do well with J41 on NCL/ABZ, but they have a reputation and customer base. Linksair don't.
I wish them all the best with whatever comes out of this, but hopefully it's a niche route that will do well for Linksair and not scare off another operator on a route that "should" be operated by a bigger aircraft.

Think you find when WOW operated initially NQY-CWL-MAN-CWL-NQY twice a day, the NQY sector were pretty low for a Dash 8, however when Skybus took on the route, the Twin Otter was awful and substituted with the Islander which was a nightmare for passengers and the agents.

All that has been speculated is possible destinations and NQY was mentioned and agree a niche route that works for them be perfect. Fingers crossed

I live in Germany and try to fly back home to Wales around 3 times a year.I decided last minute to book a flight in two days time from Amsterdam with KLM .I`d love to fly to Cardiff but the price was 618 Euros return. To Bristol was 249 Euros and to Birmingham 298 Euros.I mean what would you do?I suppose there`s competition with other airlines at Bristol and Birmingham to Amsterdam but even so who pays that sort of price just to fly into Cardiff.Sad really I`d like to support Cardiff.Ok rant over
