This is not an anti-Ryanair move, it's a cynical cash grab by a broke government which will hit mostly the network airlines who do most of their Spanish business at BCN and MAD - and who have to absorb the increases for all tickets booked before the Spanish announcement.

The Spanish action is almost certainly in breach of the EU Airport Charges Directive. Remains to be seen whether it will be legally challenged.

In 2000 ez was trying to get into AMS, but was blocked.
I take it you mean as a base? I flew LTN-AMS with U2 (or EZ as iirc they still were then, never seen the logic of that change) in 1998.

I can see that this might be the final straw for Easyjet if their Madrid base is either unprofitable or only marginally profitable.
They have already announced a major cull at MAD - base is going, some routes operated from other bases will stay. I suspect they might hang around a little longer at BCN, as it has beaches nearby, unlike MAD.

A proposed cap on flights from BVA has being rejected and airlines cleared to add flights.

Only in France can they be proposing to cap flights from an airport in the middle of nowhere, yet which is still designated as a Paris airport, and which therefore should have been a base donkeys' years ago, were it not for, well, the fact that it is in France!

Is there any news on whether the MAN-MAD flights are likely to be running from November? Thanks.

Airport Self Service Kiosks

I notice that self-service kiosks are available at LPL, and according tot he Ryanair website they are also available at a number of other airports. Their website states "Payments for services such as priority boarding and baggage fees can be made at the airport kiosk up to 40 minutes prior to the scheduled flight departure."

Can anyone provide a list of the airport locations and also let me know whether the kiosks charge the Airport Checkin Fee ?
Don't have an up to date list but all bases have/will have them at some stage as well as around 50-60 non base airports which have a large FR presance. (BVA, EIN, KRK etc)

This video about them may be of intrest:

Unlightly its being off sale for weeks and if itw as scheduling reasons it should of being back a few days after it was taken off.

Good promotional video for IBM. I wonder how much Ryanair charged for that.

LPA

LPL to LPA has yet to appear for winter, a quick surf shows STN to LPA also to be absent. Given to late agreement on fares with LPA, are routes for winter still to be loaded?

I would of thaught so to but clearly not as was reported on MAN threat only showing 2 based for winter. Where is the 4 reported and then the 6 for summer 2013 and then MOL saying FR would wipe out TCX and LS....

Ryanair Condemns Police Unions Over Planned Industrial Action At?
Ryanair is advising passengers travelling from Brussels Charleroi Airport to Croatia, Cyprus, Morocco, Ireland and the UK from 18 July to arrive at least 3 hours prior to their scheduled departure time, as Ryanair intends to operate to schedule to ensure that passengers’ travel plans are not held to ransom by selfish union action.

I want to say it was 2009 and I think it was not for lack of traffic, but because FR got a better deal from Memmingen so moved their Friedrichshafen services lock stock and barrel.

And those Ryanair birds looked so pretty coming in for landing over Lake Constance.

I think the STN-FDH route ended on 29th April 2010. Flights to Memmingen began on 29th April 2009. In case it helps, Monarch are launching a ski season route to FDH from Gatwick and Manchester beginning 14th December. Alternatively, try Germanwings to Stuttgart or Easyjet to Zurich.

I remember though in 2009 when Ryanair were going through a phase of offering 1 pound / 1 euro flights, that Friedrichshafen was regularly included as a destination. This might have led to the load factor being high.
