Interesting ?? I am unsure as to why, one would be wasting "5 minutes" to most regular readers to this thread then the answer is bloody obvious ! For anyone who isn't then the CAA website provides statistics relecting all the sad details.
It would be interesting in a way to compare also like with like i.e what ran then vs this year - shouldnt take someone 5 minutes
New route (well, sort of...)
Does anybody at Eastern drive a Bentley? New weekday route Bergen via Aberdeen, starts Monday. Leaves at 6.40am to arrive in Bergen at 11.10am local - return at 2.40pm landing at 5.10pm.

Bergen has been available as a connection via ABZ ever since it started which must be a couple of years ago now. Nothing new apart from possibly (another) retiming

Just wondering if anyone had got any shots of the Aer Arann ATR-72 from the past few days heading to Dublin?
Heard there were quite a few bookings from the airport for the route.

Thanks

I saw it fly over Hartlepool at around 3.40 - looking very good I must say!
Was quite low over Seaton Carew as it did a turn to DTV.
Edit: Very nice pictures, by the way!

What on earth was it doing as far east as Seaton Carew? That's a final approach of more than ten miles. Local tour for marketing purposes? Certainly not required for sequencing purposes since the next arrival wasn't until three quarters of an hour later.
At 13 pax inbound and 16 outbound they may need the marketing.

No idea why it was going over Seaton Carew, but everyone around did look up as it was rather loud. Did hear a few people go "Wonder where thats off to?" and another replied "No idea, but I like the colour scheme"
Maybe marketing is one of the things we need for this to work.

Good to see the winter Sharm flights being marketted aggressively by High St First Choice and other independant travel shops. ALC and TFS have always sold themselves from Teesside so it was a surprise when TFS was dropped. The loads were always good so it must have been something to do with availability or yields when the downturn came. It puts to bed all claims that Teesside holidays have never been given the same prominence that those from NCL have had.If the holidays fail during the winter then the Teesside public will only have themselves to blame.Shame there is not a great deal of choice this summer.

One problem is that unless aircraft are based at Teesside, then you have add the positioning costs which can include HOTAC the positioning flights are a sector for FTL if only for the FD.
Teessides seems unable to support based aircraft year round

TOM flights ex: MME
If MME had not courted the lo-cos a few years back in their quest to break the 1m pax target, I could have seen TOM stay on at MME. Since then, the company have also tended to focus on bigger stations.
Any future charter/loco development will tend to be focused on the big holiday companies as they have the big brand awareness that, as paarmo suggests, is needed to make the people of Teesside wake up to what is available from their local airport.
As I expect FR to pull ALC next summer, this could leave space for TOM to continue the winter ALC into the summer months, ideally with a W pattern so not to incur positioning costs etc.
Can anyone tell me how the ski charters are bookable. Was unable to find any availability on the crystal website for the January period these operated. Does anyone know if these were successful?
Along with T3, TOM seems to be a fairly loyal supporter of MME.
