It's a mixed message from a marketing point of view, and regardless of how dumb you apprently think Thomson passengers are, there are still people looking for their Thomson flight being confused by a First Choice coloured plane on the gate! It's not ideal....
Bring back BRITANNIA AIRWAYS .
At least when Thomas Cook got rid of the Condor brand in Germany they were big enough and strong enough to realise their stupidity and brought it back.....
Are TUI strong enough to realise they are wrong......i doubt it

Not so much a merger but a take-over by Thomson by the looks of things.
The First Choice and Thomson branding will remain as they each have specific customers in the holiday market. A new colour scheme/airline branding/uniforms is set to emerge with the arrival of B787's (cue histerical laughter!)
There has been confusion, some pax don't want to fly Thomson and vice versa with First Choice. At least the cabin staff are dressed the same now, i've done flights on FCA coloured aircraft with FCA cabin staff in FCA uniforms using 'Thomson Airways' PA's...but what on earth, when you merge two airlines, are you going to do? Big picture stuff - economic's don't make sense to keep them apart.
The percentage of 'returning customer' is actually very low, about 2% - i'm sure this was taken into account.

Why does it mater, what the aircraft is painted... long as it gets them there safe i dont see what the deal is and like msot folk no passengers never no who they are flying with
Other day i was on Aer Lingus flight back from Dublin in ma Thomson Airways unifrom and 2 passengers before take off, when i was taking my seat asked me for a ext seatbelt and once in the air when i went to the toilet a other asked for glass of water... so if they cant even tell the diffrence by crew when in unifrom, i dont think a aircrft is goin to make much diffrence

Not to mention that in Dublin C-GTBB, a skyservice aircraft with First Choice paint job, with Tompson Cabin crew, Canadian Flight Deck, with JWT and Thomson airways stickers, Skyservice safty cards, Tompson inflight mags, wots is there to be confused about, I agree with the previous, passengers dont know and to be honest i dont think care what colour a plane is as long as it gets them there on time and is comfortable to fly on

...."unsafe plane....shoddily operated....no-one new what was happening..."
It's so easy to destroy a reputation through lack of effort.......
If and when they take delivery of the 787....which looks like a long wait....then Britannia should be the name painted on the sides.....of EVERY aircraft....

Ok, Envoy320
Your involvement in aviation is what? Spotter? Enthusiast? Your sort of drivel on these pages is pathetic.
Who on the whole, don't seem as fussed as you! Thankfully!
Who on the whole, seem to be happier about it than you! Thankfully!
Oh do shut up!
Merging 2 companies the size of ThomsonFly and First Choice is not a simple task, there is nothing half-arsed about it and the merger between TCX and MYT didn't include a new FTSE 100 PLC company.
TCX/MYT merger does not include a brand new aircraft type with a whole new product experience yet to be launched - i'd say it was good PR and economically sensible to bring it all together when that time comes. TCX/MYT merger did not include a mixture of types as TOM's does (B757/B767/B733/B738/A320/1) some of which are not remaining in the fleet i.e. B733 but the AOC involved in the TCX/MTY merger included same aircraft types.
Safety is paramount - the two companies had very different cultures and working practices, 2 different HQ's 250 miles apart, surplus staff number in a lot of areas, all of which effect peoples livelyhoods...I could go on...painting the aircraft all one colour and the expense involved...tough titties, it can wait.
Get over it - it's just like those Envoy 320's - or the Envoy B757's if you include FJE, it's in the past...

it just shows appears as a half hearted effort to the general public
don't do a half hearted job and confuse the average travelling public....
......and then that aircraft has , what the press wouuld call, a major incident....(to us something like a go-around or turbulence)....imagine how quickly the passengers views spread.....

Just had a phonecall from Thomson to tell me that the 767 with 33" pitch has been taken into the hangar for emergency repairs, and that the replacement 767 taking me to Cancun on Wednesday will have 29" pitch.
Being the nosey type, anyone know whats up with the (I presume) former FCA aircraft, and if the 'lesser' 767 taking us out will have the IFE on board!
Cancun is an awful long way to go without some form of mild entertainment, even with an Iphone primed with movies and a DS Lite!
Cheers!

Better than sitting in a UK hotel for 24 hrs!
I know what i'd rather... These things happen!
Also if its a former FCA 767 replaced by a TOM short haul 767, your talking nearly 70 spare seats to create a little more room!

I am not sure if this has been posted before and I apologise if it has.
I have travelled on both FCA and Britannia and I have to say that I was pleased with both.
However I have also had the dubious pleasure of flying with Thomsonfly and it was absolute hell! The inflight service was a complete shambles, both ways. Because I was on my own I had no choice of seat, even though I checked in the day before. Needless to say I will never use them again. I should also say that some of my friends have had similar experiences.
How is it that 2 excellent airlines can amalgamate and form such a one. Very sad.

Thomsonfly doesn't exist anymore although still written on the side of most of the blue aircraft. Thomson airways was created through the merger of First choice and Thomsonfly! You must have got an off day. Not good enough really but can happen with every airline.

They have made all (except one) ex-Thomsonfly aircraft into the 328 seating for short/medium haul routes - all ex-First Choice are still in the fantastic long haul set up - you will enjoy!
