Ryanair are again expanding from BHX with
Alicante

Londonderry
Fuerterventura
Katowice
Kaunas
Malaga
Palma
Murica
Krakow...

Some of these are operated by EMA, but, has EMA been forgotten and they are moving on now, or will there be any more expansion soon... its over due some... If easyjet do leave, there could be Palma up for grabs, I would have thought Fuerterventura, Katowice would be popular from EMA as well...

I think the possibility of FR expanding further at EMA, certainly in the short to medium term, is very remote indeed.
Now it is the dominant airline at the airport it looks as if its full attention in the Midlands is now being focussed on BHX in an attempt to achieve the same outcome there.
With the continued rumours regarding EZY and the uncertainty of what may result from any future sale of bmi, EMA's management could soon be faced with the unenviable situation of having to offer even better terms to FR to retain even its current level of operations at the airport, and the situation is likely to get even worse for them once FR has increased its presence at BHX, as the airline will be in an even stonger position to play one airport off against the other.

Shady,

Nil further. It's all a bit quiet. Some interested parties have expressed a desire to take the a/c on, but it is old, and would need a lot of work now. No maint done since Christmas, so it will be in a state. Definitely no cleaning been done onboard either - I dread to think!

I would imagine EMA are waiting for money to be paid first to let it go anywhere.....

I thought FR were Putting a 7th Aircraft In towards the end of October at EMA. So we just might get some new routes or an increase on some routes anounced soon. Presumbe With BHX being a new base for FR there anouncement will become before us .

FR Derry Flights.

Ive noticed that EMA-DERRY Cannot be booked after the 26th of October, Think we might have lost this 2 BHX. As Cork Knock BHD Can be booked after the 26th of October. I heard loads were not brilliant so not suprised thou sad if it is correct that we have lost a flight 2 BHX.

FR @ BHX and EMA

I think in the short term there will be some re-jigging of routes at EMA to accomodate the new base at BHX and to avoid overlapping of routes where I there just isn't demand from both. LDY is one of those, on paper you have 'lost' a route but the current commercial and operating environment just doesn't allow for airlines to fly routes to 'join all the dots' on a route map, as it were.

I have no doubts in the long term that some FR destinations will be operated from both airports successfully and that some will only be from either EMA or BHX according to where demand is strongest. I have always said there is demand in the Midlands for two major airports and FR have seen an opportunity to exploit this both airports to gain a major foothold in the Midlands market.

As for expansion at EMA, well I suppose its all BHX focused at the mo because its a new base but am sure EMA will see new flights from FR too this year, the long term problem for EMA is that BHX will be the major base of the two by far and I think will see faster expansion in terms of based a/c and destinations

Personally I am not sure that a daily Derry from BHX will work, time will tell

FR - LDY/BHX or EMA

Given the large Irish population in the West Midlands, I would have thought that LDY would stand a better chance of being successful from BHX than EMA.

Ryanair

Do the additional routes require extra rotations/aircraft or do some routes give way to make room.

May pax

The good news in certain parts of the Midlands rumbles on (well at present): -

NOTTINGHAM EMA 551,403 up 14.2%

C c

There was plenty of room for these additional flights in the winter
schedule for the existing 6 based aircraft. However like BHX there
has been some changes.

The last time I looked EMA had lost FNI, AHO, LDY plus a couple of
others but this is normal for winter. It has been virtually been impossible
to check the FR schedules due to problems on their website (damn
people wanting to book flights).

airhumberside

at least bhx got a decent schedule on the PRG

Monarch, CVT??

Monarch operating from Battery Park City eh? (Please, if we're going to use codes, let's at least get them right!!).

Seriously, is there a reputable source to this rumour - or just wishful thinking?

Im surprised they are dropping Madrid, the boards always seem to show average amounts of pax for the Madrid... Last summers pax seem to be between 130 - 180 on every flight
