PIA

EMA747

Just check the Leeds thread, there is a link to www.historyofpia.com
and there is an advert stating that Amsterdam will be re-instated and
Bradford will be a new destination.

Yes Bradford rather than Leeds/Bradford!

Unless the advert is fake, which some have alluded to as it is
similar to a previous one then that is as much as there is relating
to written proof.

If it was an official PIA advert I would have hoped for at least the
correct name of the airport to be shown but we are make mistakes
don't we?

As for BHX, the move to the 777 created extra capacity which was
not filled to start with but the last few months have shown greatly
improved loads and it would be a major disappointment to lose one
flight a week let alone the whole operation.

Hi Guys

Hope is everyone is ok, i posted on here a few weeks ago about a little holiday i am going on this summer to Dalaman, i have another enquiry ?
I go on the 26th June for a week with Thomson, and someone kindly replied on here what the Aircraft ill be, so thanks for that ....
My Query is that this thursday i as at the airport picking someone up and my flight was not there, so i did a little check on Departures at EMA website and the flight was not listed ?
Is it just a simple case the flight has not started yet ? or is it going to start and Thomson are going to write to me and say you have been moved to another airline ?
I would be really annoyed if it is the latter, as we paid extra for the supplement as the times of the flight are great as we depart EMA at 08.00 hrs and return at 17.30 hrs ? which is rare for a day time flight to Dalaman
Any help guys is a real bonus for me

Thanks

Mike

The Thomsonfly thursday Dalaman flight doesn't start until the 19th June with a Boeing 757 aircraft, Thomson's thursday Dalaman flights at the minute are operated using a First Choice Airways aircraft leaving at 17:40. So don't worry your flight will be at the times you were expecting. Hope this helps you put your mind at rest, have a great time.

I have noticed that tomorrow morning there are 3 thomson departures, even though there are only 2 aircraft based over weekends, which is odd because my grand parents are going to Palma 2 weeks tomorrow and they are going on the futura flight which has been operating for the past few weeks on the sunday, how come its a thomson this week???

Easyjet Leaving East Midlands Airport

Very strong Rumour as i am not in at work today, but one of my fellow colleague's of mine she is senior crew, that Easyjet are withdrawing from EMA from the end of October, apparently a member of crew was told yesterday that the terms would be either to transfer to LTN as they are having the Airbus and will need additional crew for this as of the 4 crew rule etc...
Or you can take redundancy , i think the latter will be the main one as most crew live in Derby. Notts or South yorkshire way, I know for certain my colleague ***** who lives in Sheffeild will deffo not go to LTN, and my other colleague ***** ********** who lives nr Ashby will not go either as she originally joined Go and will not go all the way to LTN as she will just go back to her old role at the police.
Shame about this as EZY has given in to Ryanair at long last, who will be next BMIbaby ?

Goodbye

Maria xxxx

Hi Guys

Oh my god, is this Maria L ????? if so Mikey here.
I am so sorry to hear that easyjet are leaving here ?
I worked at easyjet for just 2 years and must say that they are a great team at the airport and the flights were always full up, why would they go then, i do see with ryanair they have taken over and now with the malaga route starting today i suppose this will harm easyjet along with bmi.
I know east midlands is only a small base but that is why it was so nice as everyone knew each other, and you also get to know the regular pax's too.
Well take care Maria and may i wish you all the best

sexy

if thats the case that would be a real blow. EZY is far the best product at EMA in my humble view (except price but one can never beat FR). Baby always running around late.
My advice - don't go to LTN its a dump

Looks like a complete withdrawal as no routes are bookable after 2 Nov.

I surpose it wasnt long before easyJet pulled the note at EMA because of Ryanair and bmibaby coming close to there destinations..., Alicante, Malaga, Venice with Pisa, Milan, Rome etc...

However easyjet's FAO flight was upto 8/9 a week this summer, do you think Ryanair or bmibaby will bring this or anyother routes back up to this level...

as i understand it now there is a meeting on 3rd&4th June to decide the future of the "small" bases.
The current plan is for fewer, bigger bases (roster pattern and economy of scale), EMA especially is under the microscope due to the high airport fees when compared to LPL, STN and LTN

but who knows, these things are changeable
very sad day if the plan goes as currently favoured and EZY EMA disappears

Slim Shady,

I don't think EZY have released their winter timetable yet - unless EZY are dropping LTN as well since I cannot book seats for any date after 2/11 from LTN to AGP or BCN.

A similar rumour surfaced after EZY announced flights from BHX - best to wait and see.

This will be shocking if Easyjet leave EMA, but seriously I can't see it happening
i.e. I don't believe the rumours.
I shall eat my words at a later date if need be.

If the EMA base were to close, the staff would certainly be offered many options for working elsewhere with / within Easyjet, not just "Luton or redundancy". By law I am fairly sure they'll have to be offered "any suitable vacancy at any UK base, or redundancy".
In fact if Easyjet for example refuse to transfer someone who wishes to transfer to PARIS even, they'd have to have fairly good reasoning or legal loophole, coz they'd be legally obliged to give effected staff every opportunity to continue working within the company.
If someone is offered "Luton or redundancy", but would prefer another base, and Easyjet refuse, they should definintely legally challenge such behaviour (in my opinion).

Hi Guys

Well just watched an interview on BBC1 with MOL from ryanair which was on tv this morning and he states they will not put prices up on flights with the cost of fuel rising as it is, they are to ground 10% of flights this winter.

So why dont easyjet do the same, if a route is under performing etc.... just ground the plane, would be better then shutting a base ?

After seeing Maria's post on here yesterday i was shocked, but now i have had time to think about it, i do see easyjet's idea, if they want to keep the bigger bases and kind of shut small bases, so would easyjet go form liverpool and move to Manchester where there is a very low ryanair presence as compared to liverpool.

When will there be a proper announcement ?

sexladyEZY,

Please identify the source of this information and in what capacity they act. No official announcement has been made, working groups are still exploring the options.

Unless you can oblige I suggest you refrain from this pass time. Also naming individuals on this website is not advisable and perhaps your friends would be interested to know they are named here.

How are the wedding plans?

Hello Binder

Well what a snobby reply, as you may be able to see i have re-edited the names now.
The information i was told was from a FO and captain based at EMA, my wedding plans are going very well thankyou for asking, so as you know who i am, may you identify yourself, or are you a wannabe ?

Talking to other crew today we all feel the base will close, even though our spend per head is the best in the uk etc.... or there will be a BIG restructure of the base, for example the GVA would revert back to EZY Swiss to operate the flight, and as for PMI,AGP,CIA,GLA,EDI,ALC,BCN, FAO well EDI and GLA were taken over by WW, and the others are well served from the carriers at the airport on all these routes, so all that would happen is that WW and FR load factors would increase slightly, so within a few months no one would of noticed EZY deaparture !

we're jumping the gun here
no announcement, just rumour (I guess this is the nature of this site though)

Anything said, by anyone, is just conjecture at present because no official decision has been made
