spot-on old bean
y'know reading back through some of the posts' a common theme appears,
namely the poor quality/ greedy (well TBI were, a 300% raise in charges for office accommodation in one year 2001-2002) / lacklustre management,(of CWL), anyone care to bet how long the latest appointee will stay in the job?

As for the DEDICATED / NOT DEDICATED rubbish I can assure you the only thing airlines are dedicted to is their own survival. No one has any particular love for any one airport over another. It's a simple business decision.

Must be tech problem, Now departing 0900 tomorrow on A300-600. Not good when they already have a DC-10 subbed to cover the other tech A330.
Looking through TCX website, SFB still not on sale for 2009.
However BRS-SFB is for next year, where it wasn't available this year. Looks to be TCX using FCA/TOM flight though.
Also on NCL thread comments of Monarch completely pulling out of NCL next year (Dropping SFB/CUN/POP)

Would be good to have MON at CWL operating some scheduled routes.
Gibraltar would be nice, that is, if there is demand for it.
If they started though, would expect the usual bucket and spade routes to the Med!

this could be promising but...
with the state of the industry at the moment it would be a bloodbath at CWL. Monarch would be up against the traditional b & s routes of Baby and although TOMFly have run these previosuly there have been a few cutbacks and even more next year.
Only IBZ and an increase in frequency to BCN could work as well as some canary island and cyprus routes where there is limited competition with the charters but I would not hold our breath just yet.
we have the unmentionable still unable to get ff the ground and the UK market potentially slippping into recession.
However lets hope that this rumour does come to fruition. CWL needs a bit of good news. It appears to be lacking in some lately.

Additional Winter flights at CWL
Last time I looked, extra flights were on the following.
Thomas Cook to Canaries on A320. I think it is 3 or 4 weekly.
XL to Egypt on 737-800 weekly
Zoom to Toronto weekly on 767-300
Fly Be to Edinburgh, Glasgow & Newcastle in addition to their Belfast and Paris ops from last Winter. I think this is around 55 weekly departures in total.
bmibaby are selling double daily on Belfast again plus their Warsaw flights go through Winter and Barcelona only stops in very low season.
Eastern are selling their 3rd daily Newcastle too.
Also heard there are some more cruise flights operating by Thomson on 767 to Dominican Republic in addition to their usual Barbados flights.
So in total, Winter should be busier subject to punters buying tickets i suppose.

Further to that you have some P&O, Princess and Fred Olsen cruises flights from CWL to the Caribbean over the winter as well. Most of them to BGI with one or two to Acapulco, Miami and I think one to New Orleans

I know that P&O use TOM flights but not sure who Princess and Fred Olsen use. Princess may also use TOM as well as they are a sister company of P&O. I can only speculate on F Olsen, but a thought may be XL, particularly now as they will have spare aircraft as they are suspending their regular flights to the caribbean

Thought it would of been Thomson, proberbly the use of there 762 or 763.
It would be nice to see Cardiff get some new airlines attracted to the airport e.g. Easyjet or Continental Airlines. Unlikely to happen ay

Well never say never. Rumours fly around from left right and centre but with Thomsons cutting back their flights from CWL there may be a possibility of a new operator to fill the gaps that Thomsons have left. Routes such as PMI, AGP, ALC etc. Will be interesting to see if any announcements are made in the next few months.
As for EZY and Continental, I would think it would be very unlikely (although I'm no expert). As these 2 airlines fly from BRS anyway, I wouldn't have thought they would fly from CWL as well

I have also heard from good resources about Monarch basing an A321 for Summer 2009.................very good resources I must say !!!!
Bet we will soon see ZB flights to IBZ, TFS, PMI plus more !
TOM will be doing all the cruise flights this winter BGI, ACA, FLL, MBJ, LRM - quite a larger than usual programme too which is great news to go with the TCX flights ACE, LPA, FUE & TFS, the XL SSH, Zoom YYZ not forgetting all of the ad-hoc rugby flights which will start sooner or later.
Can also see that Servisair have the Azerbaijan football team next week, flying in from Baku with Azerbaijan Airlines on an A319 - will make a change from their usual Tu154 !!!
Regarding that stupid survey the airport did - has any airline actually looked at the results ? Are they selling the suggested routes at all to any airlines ????

re survey results
We have been presented data on the results and are considering the information as part of our evaluations.
I have heard from other airlines they too have been receiving information on this.
remember a set of survey results does not make us do a route, but it adds weight to a business case to consider a route
