Thomson Winter 10/11

No new routes for winter 2010, however increased frequencies on TFS & SSH as they did this year but are operating all winter and not just for two months.

CWL Redevelopment

CWL Redevelopment Plans on the Vale Of Glamorgan Website:

Vale of Glamorgan Online Register

Look under documents and open the Design and Access statement. Plans look great, whilst it wont bring in airlines, it will make life much more comfortable for pasengers and staff.

Eurocypria

From another thread looks like Eurocypria may be in some trouble. Were they due to operate from CWL again this year?

Stavrakis: Eurocypria will close by Friday without cash boost - Cyprus Mail

Easy Diversion

Looks like there was another diversion by Easy today but only spent 40 mins on the ground so not sure what was going on.

Easyjet Diversion

The Easyjet was diverted to CWL due to a light aircraft blocking the runway at BRS.

Should RE not look into a BFS/CWL service with 2 daily flights, they could make a run at it. WW at there peak carried quite alot of passengers (aircraft was too large for the route at the end of the day)

Flybe are currently increasing their flights on the BHD and possibly looking at increasing it further when the time is right.

Aer Arann have had it easy over the last few years with no direct competition from other airlines on the DUB or ORK. As there are not many options for onward connections from BFS it maybe out of the question.

I would on the other hand like to see the return of Galway or their flights to Lerient.

New Ski flights - Sofia

Sofia with Balkan Ski Holidays from December 2010 - much needed new destination, much needed new SKI destination. Any chance of Salzburg, Turin or Toulouse?

No chance what so ever. There is no ski market this winter from the UK. The fact that a Bulgaria (although apparently great for skiing) is doing well this year is because those who want to go are looking for the cheapest way to do it. Had a friend come back from France last week and they said they didn't hear one other english voice in the resort all week.

Baby can't even fill GVA once a week let alone daily as it was last year. Oh and that's not baby's fault for not doing it daily, as someone who doesn't know squat will say in a minute. It's because no one can afford to go not because there are no flights to take them !

Well the route is on sale CheekyVisual, obviously that might change if bookings are not good but fingers crossed it stays.

Even when the going was good there seemed a lack of Ski flights from CWL.

In recent year we have only seen Tom INN and CMF weekly with WW operating GVA ramped up to 5 weekly last week which never done that well.

In all fairness WW did try for GNB which never paid off.

As we are slowly crawling out of a recession i am sure we will see flights increase from CWL and hope seasonal SKi flights will once again grow.

Cheeky - I have to question your logic with regards to your comments on there being no uk ski market, again this is prob just a CWL issue, the little place over the bridge from you is thriving with ski flights i'm afraid...

GVA - daily & 4 x daily at weekends with EZY + sat rotation with TOM,
GNB - 3 x week EZY, sat rotation with TOM
CMB - 2 X week with TOM & AEU
TLS - daily with EZY, sat with tom
INN - 2 x week with EZY, sat rotation with TOM
SZG - weekly with TCX
SOF - 2 x week sun with TOM & Balken
BGY - daily with FR
MXP - daily with EZY
TRN - weekly with both FR & TOM
INV - Daily with EZY for those who wish to go to scottish ski resorts
KTT - TCX weekly rotations during dec & jan
RVN - twice weekly rotations during dec with TOM

So no void in ski market in the SWales/SW area, just afraid it seems that yet again there is no share between the airports as BRS is saturated with them mate.

Also read on another prune thread (cant find it now) that BRS was 4th in country for pax travelling to GVA, behind LHR,LGW and MAN I believe.

What's with this new radar tower? It seems to have sprung up overnight (or maybe I just don't go to work often enough), is there a time scale to actually have it full of radar and operational? And how will it be better than what you have already?

The de-icing teams need to get their act together too, if CWL wish to be taken seriously. I was flying one of the a/c diverted from BRS on the 18th. Waited about 2 hours to get de-iced. Next time I'm going to Exeter.

Who's to say you wouldn't have the same problem in Exeter? Plus, surely you can understand the delay given that it was unusual to have 6 extra aircraft - all of which required de-icing!
