It is not in CWL's control. It is the airline that states the time and in this case it was Loganair and not Flybe. The Airport has sent out the campaign and some are slating that it was supposed to be a top destination by vote.

Leisure and Business are two different markets and if using statistics from business servey then a business schedule is whats required.

Yes the times from BRS are better hence the reason i stated i bet a lot of passengers were still using the BRS services to ABZ as the daily rotation was poor for business passengers.

CWL SFB

Come on TOM theres a gap! Please fill it! Several friends have lost money with the XL collapse and now some of the group have lost money with Globespan also. So if anyone from TOM sees this please please tell them
" BRING BACK THE ORLANDO" and the CWL based TOM crew who were fantastic at doing the longhaul.

Yet again CWL prevails [over BRS] with the weather diversions (accepting)...another 'plus' for CWL but sadly, the airlines ignore this fact!

there never a good time to start new routes or base aircraft
all these airport got new routes and some have more aircraft based there for 2010

bouremouth bristol birmingham liverpool east midlands doncaster leeds edinburgh glasgow manchester prestwick southampton luton gatwick stansted

cwl nothing cwl needs to wake up for a capital city airport its very poor terminal looks like a very large shed sorry to say dated and tired looking and poor transport links and poor roads links im not blaming the aiport for the transport links and roads

Sad to say I think CWL has had it's glory days, instead of getting more routes or planes it's getting less and less.

BRS is killing it, I hear so many welsh passengers on my flights I think the airlines just say what's the point flying out of CWL when they are happy to travel to BRS.

I personally think CWL is a far better airport than BRS to operate from as most days I think BRS still thinks it's a tiny quiet airfield and they have decided to keep the same level of personel unable to cope with how much it has expanded. Waiting 30 min for pax bus or the ambi-lift is not uncommon.

Quote from Steve Hodgetts on the CWL website today:

"With terminal development plans in the pipeline as well as new routes including a scheduled, trans-Atlantic service to Florida during the summer season we're optimistic 2010 will be a successful year for Wales' national airport."

What is he referring to? Thought the Globespan SFB route gone?
Anyone shed any light on these optimistic comments?

The Globespan route to Sanford has gone. I would bet my house that Steve Hodgetts is referring to the Globespan route to Sanford here. Someone should remind him Globespan have gone under.

Even I,after past events and a dwindling airport, don't believe that CWLs management are that incompetent to make such an inaccurate statement!

Time will tell, but like I said, I would bet my house that Steve Hodgetts is referring to the Globespan route to Sanford.

Snow Diversions 21/12

Nice to see CWL come to the rescue this evening when it accepted 7 diversions, mostly from London airports - and even a Ryanair!!

See, we are useful for something...

Are they serious??

Somebody somewhere has seriously messed up with letting that quote go to print. It refers to "scheduled" services, so i doubt it would be anything from TCX, TOM or MON, or any replacement carrier at such short notice without a designated announcement.
Looking at other airports from the past few days, nearly all have had newsflashes on their websites with regards to the recent weather, whether that airport is operating as normal or has been effected. CWL - Nothing

Past news articles on the airport website are often very much dated from when the news is made actually public.
Only one article is normally displayed at a time. So something important may well be replaced by something a local school has recently done!!
Realistically, they need to catch the eye of passengers using the site. No-one will log onto the airport site with the intention of trawling the news articles (with the exception of present company!) But if its there, prominent and something people may be interested in, people may actually look at it!

I have to say good work for all those working late evening / early morning on the 20th and those working on the 21st.

Runway cleared and airport open before BRS on the 21st plus good work to ensure dealing with the aircraft all in one go when we did open.

Very poor conditions morning of 21st due to ice and have heared that it go well.

Afternoon 21st fun and games with the 7 diversions from various locations. ATC, Ramp, Passenger Service Agents worked very well to ensure everything wen't smoothly.

You know that the airport has done such a good job when crews are happy on the ground and are complementing the staff's hard work by saying that they would like to choose CWL as a divert airport in the future if possible.

Well done once again for those involved and although our continuing hard work and effort for these airlines would not warrant a based unit, the crew are more than happy with the service received after being fiverted.
