Thanks Plaincrazy....the cardiff airport ******** did show it operating as a320 earlier but now showing 752! Perhaps my eyes were playing tricks!
The fuel stop at SFB for the TOM 763- Does that mean that CWL cannot take off a fully laden 763 to further than SFB or CUN?

yeah thats correct the 763 with a full load needs a tech stop to refuel when going to acapulco, opertated these a couple of years back from both cwl and lgw and we tech stopped and crew changed in halifax this year its SFB.

I think maybe the question is in relation to whether the reason for the tech stop is due to the length of the runway or operational constraints of the aircraft.

Thanks Caaardiff - good to know at least that our runway is up there with the others for long haul capabilities! We just need the flights now!
Noticed that the part based TCX A320 has just been sitting around at CWL on the days not operating- what a waste!
Thought it went somewhere like LBA on the other days?

It has previously but for this week and the last it has been sat at CWL. Maybe the route is non-op for a month or two simlar to the Monastir and few others therefore at least it's generating some revenue at CWL rather than have it sat at LBA instead.

Britannialad, you are correct as in there will be cutbacks in various sides of the business with the possible redundancies for our flightcrew however on a positive note there are new routes for TOM next summer and who knows what summer 2011 will bring lots of rumours but suppose we will have to wait and see No plans for route cutbacks at CWL in the business update for the near future. B757 and B738 for next summer also there is only TOM and TCX based at CWL and as Thomson and First Choice holidays have a strong and loyal customer base at CWL and lots of retail shops in the south wales area selling our holidays I can only see expansion of route network and new destinations for the future, just trying to look on the bright side

WW Summer 2010
WW have pulled their BFS for next summer (as of 25 March) and are dropping one daily EDI and moving the remaining one to a 13:25 slot. Bad news for businessmen but on the bright side, BE should pick up the business!

Yes. Baby losing an a/c (and a load of jobs!) in CWL. Something was going to have to give and the meds make the money the domestics lose. If you were told by someone make money in a year or your gone you would have to look at things dispationately too. I know baby don't want to cut back but they have no choice. The facts as always are ALC, AGP, FAO, etc.. make money they also have a contract with TCX for med routes that has to be honoured and might provide the profit to keep the company afloat.
You can't make 2 aircraft do the work of three. As there is little or no business traffic anyway moving EDI to one a day for a few months won't make a big difference in the long term. Keeping the early and late might have kept the odd business bod off Fly Be but in my experience and from what I've been told by all sorts of people in the industry is that business travel bookings have collapsed to virtually nothing.
In any case the Q400 is a far more economic aircraft for domestics and this should secure the Fly Be routes. Don't expect any further expansion by Fly Be though times are still too tough for airlines to start taking chances.
It is not, and never has been, bmi baby holding CWL back. They are a weak company and could be ousted from CWL by a small breath of wind. The fact no one is doing so shows the true economic postion of CWL at present. It will change but the country needs to get out of the mess Gordon Brown has got us into before CWL is going to see any expansion of airlines or routes. Blaming one airline for CWL's lack of success is a bit like blaming it all on the ref for not giving you a penalty when you lost 9-0 !

Was just a one off, the Flybe EDI was tech. Inbound pax transferred to WW EDI and the outbound Flybe EDI pax were transferred to the BE GLA and the aircraft did a double drop.
