i Agree lets wait a bit longer and get a decent size terminal instead of the shed extenstions which the airport has had over the last few years

Look at domestic arrivals you walk through the door into the back of Superdrug

Bad News !

I dont want to bring bad news (if it is bad news ) but Bridgepoint are planning on spending £19 million out of their £70 million on the terminal.
That's far from Bad News mate, it sounds fantastic to me - exactly what we have been crying out for.

Sorry, I didn't explain what I meant by bad news. It is indeed great news. I am aware that Peel spend £26 million on Robin Hood but that was not jsut for the terminal.

So what can Leeds expect for £19 million? Anyone know what realistic facilities can be created with that amount of money?

Cool £19 million?

Anybody know is that enough to build a new terminal?

DSA terminal is like a mini LPL.Is there enough room at LBA to build a brand new terminal along side the exsisting one?.

Anything is better than the mishmash we currently have!.

Bristol built it's new terminal in 2000 for roughly £37 million. It was originally built for 4 million (although passenger numbers are now nearing 6.5 million).

i doubt leeds is going to get a new terminal, it will be the existing terminal extended and redesigned. personally i'd like to see all the check-in desks in one area, departures upstairs only, a more centrally located passport control (to reduce the long walk), and deparutres extended alongside short stay car park 2 (so more than 1 flight can board/disembark at once) - oh and removing those all those chains which are supposed to direct passengers to the right stand.

and sort out side the terminal as well, a shambles at moment.

flying from leeds in august and the reports i have heard dont seem so good , overcrowding , no where to sit and the bars and resturants packed all the time.sounds a bit like manchester (terminal 1) flew from there in march and that was bad.

Downstairs can get pretty busy, but I've never seen the upstairs too bad. I stand to be corrected!

Can't say i'm surprised, it was never going to work. Hamburg airport itself may have faired a little better. Only other German destination I could see maybe working would be Berlin.

Regards

I think Munich would be a good bet; a mix of business and leisure (ski-ing in Winter). Used to be a good winter route in the old days from EMA

TCX delays

Just been looking on LBIA website, the TCX flight from ALC seems to have diverted somewhere else.

The LPA flight says departing Sun,and that flights arrival at 0700 says indefinate delay est 1800,ouch!.

I suppose this is the chance you take when you have one based aircraft operating a fairly busy schedule.

Anybody have a clue how they will resolve this issue?

The txc diverted to MAN, then positioned back to LBA at 0030 sunday morning... the LPA flight is due to depart at about 0700 sunday morning and not sure if they will be positioning another a/c in to cover the flight due to normally depart on sunday.

Not an airline expert in no means what so ever but hey i will have ago.

If they have a Spare 320 anyway in the country postion that into LBA to operate the LCA flight so that flight isnt effected what so ever. That 320 can operate the rest of the weeks schedules until it is poistioned when ever the position the A/C to what ever base etc.

The LPA flight you could either Damp Lease a A/C from another airline to operate the flight (LS or Titan Airways). The TCK cabin crew can be used but either they will have to call in 757 Flight Deck Crew who are on call or use LS'S or Titan's. There is my 2 Pennys worth.

Last Year sometime in Septemeber BD had this problem a delayed flight caused mayhem for the rest of the summer schedule!!

EDIT: LPA flight departed at 0858 this morning. Dont know what a/c etc. Looks like it wont be arriving until around 1900 this evening. Dont know how the outbound passangers took it but at least they land and can unpack etc and bask in the sun for all be it 4 hours. Inbound would of been mayhem and i wouldnt want to be neither the Cabin Crew, Flight Deck Crew(although you are hidden away).

AGP flight looks delayed they are still checking that one in so i reckon that they are waiting for the Spare TCK A/C to come in from where ever.

LCA looks fine and is expected to depart on time

It looks like the Spare A/C turned up though the AGP flight didnt take off until 1100 today. I would reckon that this is going to have a knock on effect on todays LCA flight aswell as possibly the first TCK flight out of LBA tommorow all be it by half an hour!

Just to be pedantic; you can't hold an ATPL until you're 21. CPL/IR at that age is however pretty good going! Unfortunately most of us aren't lucky enough to have someone to bankroll us through £50k's worth of training.
