Delays to bmi charter flights
lbalad - don't know if it was somehow connected, but I was a passenger at HER on Tuesday. Our tickets showed departure at 20:15, but we were told on arrival at the airport that it was rescheduled to 22:20. The A321 arrived at 21:30, but then went technical (anybody know why?). Finally leaving well after midnight. Just as an extra bit of fun, before take off pax were then moved around the aircraft apparently because the luggage had all been wrongly loaded.

Just been on the LBA website and had a quick look at the masterplan but this appears to be the same as the one that was published back in the days of the airport being owned by the various councils. Surely the plans for the airport have been changed with the sale of the airport. Does anybody have any idea of any changes to the masterplan as surely the airport is well past its capabilites at present.
The photo at the start of the masterplans brings back the memories of when two 767's opperated out of the airport. Swefly and Thomason! No more news on LS 767's.

Can anyone comment on the new pushback system in use at LBA, video footage can be found within this link..

Question is, what on earth was going on and how long before we see this new system intergrated at other U.K. airports ??
Dont envy the ground staff at LHR when the A380 comes into service. !!!

It saves the company £50 on every turn round handling charge!
Surely that can't be the only reason, the unions must be doing there nut, the risk of Injury must be huge.
I presume that this is down to lack of Emb190 equipment. ???

I would guess that the aircraft parked up before they realised there was no tow bar for it, or the pin had sheared. I do not the think the Emb-190s are regular users of LBA so a tow bar for this new type may not be in place yet.

Spotter LBA,
I don't believe the current owners of LBA are constrained by the masterplan that the old team put together following instruction from central government.
Across the UK many similar masterplans have been knocked back by local objection to expansion so it wouldn't surprise me that government is distancing itself from the expansion policy it set out a few years ago.
It would be interesting to know exactly what minimum expansion agreement (if any) was made with Bridgepoint when the local authorities sold the airport off. We could weedle it out of local government if we make a freedom of information demand.
My gut feeling is that we should all not get too excited by what appeared in the masterplan.

Thanks for the info Harrogate....
Was there any need for the "if you had read" dig ???
Why not just tell me the reason without the dig ??
Another fine example of why people are too scared to post on here incase they have missed or should know something.
You complete

A bit of an overreaction, methinks.

You utter hypocrite.
Your response is the very reason I don't post on here any more.
There was no dig.
If you read what I wrote again, you'll see I wrote "if you read" pronounced "reed" and not "red", as you wrongly accuse me of.
I didn't write "if you had read".
I was merely pointing out that there's a description field on YouTube that accompanies the post.
You're the w**nker, chum.
