Ceuta maybe, but Melillia would be very doubtful, as it's nearer to Malaga and has a more than adequate service already between the two, as well as the connecting flights.
Somehow, can't see either happening.

Well why put it on here then? Very deep for many who don't know down here.
Perhaps you heard the rumour that Ryanair are operating flights to Gibraltar from next summer?
Gibraltar South that is, known to everyone else as Tangier.

I see "Safekys will tender for ATC Services at Gibraltar Airport in August 2011" according to their website.
Is this part of Project Marshall or a separate contract?

Ryanair
MKY I think IB is taking the piss, so I do not think it is worth asking as to what routes Ryanair would be operating out of GIB.
I don't think you got his joke concerning Gibralter South as in Tangiers!

"www.gibraltarairterminal.com". Bit of a clunky URL isn't it?
It doesn't appear to be an official website though.
"www.gibraltarairport.com" seems to be free.
"www.flygib.com" has a nice ring to it, although some pretend airline owns that one.
"www.flygibraltar.com" is for sale and could be yours for $1,395 apparently.
Got an opening date for the new terminal yet?

New terminal
Regarding the opening of the new terminal - how long is a piece of string! Went across the border today (12 July) not to fly but to the bank and Morrisons! More windows seem to have have taken out of the front of the terminal and it looked like they were working on the aircraft stands which I thought were complete. My own rough guess -early 2012 - local elections in March 2012! Cheers C3B

I take it they queues to get back into Spain are still a pain. I have my shopping trip to do on Monday; is it going to get any easier once the new terminal is open or worse ?

No, had to wait 5 minutes to cross to Gib and nobody bothered with me and the car on the way back over i.e. Guardia Civile. If you have a people carrier or dark windowed 4x4 expect to be stopped - looking for fags (only 200 allowed back into Spain) and drugs of course (Morocco just across the Straits). The children are out of school at the moment and many ''locals'' on holiday so traffic much lighter. Good luck C3B

The new terminal will definately be finished in 2012. Old terminal is to be demolished to make way for new multi storey car park.
Heard there was a birdstrike yesterday as well.

A BHX connection would be welcome. Hopefully would make monster journeys like yesterday's EZ flight (GIB-LGW) less of an issue for Midlanders like myself. The monster being an 11:40 GIB-LGW turning into a 17:30 MAL-LGW with all the associated onward travel nighmares that ensue when you arrive back in Blighty 6hrs late.
Are they planning on getting a new radar as part of the construction works? Would save someone having to wind up the elastic bands on the current one.
