British Airways - 2
BA is understood to be reviewing its short-haul operations and the premium seats could be removed from planes operating out of Gatwick and regional airports.

Guys, my posting was an extract from "The Times"
On a serious note, that is probably a source we can appreciate...

Thanks for the info Parky.
Have now read the article and it shows how much WW knows about his own business if he still thinks BA are operating premium cabins out of the regions.

BA reconfiguring A320s
Quote:
"Willie Walsh, the chief executive of British Airways, has, in effect, called time on European business-class travel, saying that the service may not survive the recession."
Looks like this process is moving ahead; the A320s will be converting to a 162 seat config, with most if not all, being reconfigured by the Summer and all new 320s being reconfigured in this logo.
Since the comments made by WW suggest that LGW would be the first to lose C Class, I'm wondering if these reconfigured acft might be used to replace 734s at LGW?
Incidentally, does anyone know how many 319s are being based at LGW this Summer; currently only 3 ...

I would be AMAZED if C went completely from LHR - there is too much connection traffic onto the lucrative long haul routes. Not even considering that most of BA's competitors offer some sort of business class on short haul!
LGW long haul seems more O&D to the Caribbean etc.

Only three? Blimey. They're not trying any more are they? Clapped out classic B737-400 or nothing(!)

BA9214P is scheduled to leave LBA for LHR at 20.25 this evening.
It's obviously one of Jet2's aircraft, so I guess it's around this time that the airlines are positioning in.
As the strike could be called off right up until the last minute, I suppose they're leaving things as late as possible.

BA positioning many aircraft around the UK today due to the strike.
Airbus to GLA/EDI and B747 to PIK, as well as other UK airports that can accommodate.
These aircraft will be on the ground for up to 7 days - subject to change as per the strike...

I catch a glimpse of the 'World's Favourite' (Ryanair) operating the Shuttles 2093 and 273 G this am for the 'World's Favourite'. (EI-DAN and EI-DHR)
Interesting times.

BA @ Gatwick
The paragraph below I have taken from The Cabin Crew thread and is from the offer made by Ba to the cabin crew. Is there an agreement between unions and Ba which limits/prevents long haul expansion at Lgw?
"It is accepted that restrictions within the Gatwick Fleet memorandum of agreement limit the long haul route network. It is agreed that discussions will be held with a view to removing these restrictions to provide the best opportunities for growth in the long haul network at Gatwick, for the benefit of the business and our people."

Why cancellations on some Domestic & European routes?
A colleague of mine was due to travel from LHR to GLA this afternoon but her flight's been cancelled & she's had to be re-booked on one an hour of hour later.
She's querying why if the strike's been over for more than 24 hours are there still cancellations particularly on quite a lot of domestic & european routes? Surely by now all the crews should be in place to operate these services.
Anyone from BA able to explain?

Understand that maybe be the case for the first flight of the day from an airport where an aircraft & crew overnights, but for a mid afternoon flight I would very much doubt it.
There still seem to be at least 20 cancellations for short-haul flights to-day. Are they now being cancelled due to a lack of passenger numbers so that they can consolidate with later flights??
