British Airways - 2
Aviance don't handle anything at LGW anymore and anyway FlyBe are mishandled by Servisair. Which station are you being scurrilous about? Tut tut

For comparison, RPKs ten years ago (1998, full year):
1. United 201,715
2. American 180,144
3. Delta 168,596
4. Northwest 119,337
5. British Airways 112,029
6. Continental 96,580
7. Lufthansa 81,401
8. US Airways 66,738
9. Singapore 64,528
10. Southwest 58,695
(RPKs in millions)
It is sad to see the relative decline of BA. Notice that neither KLM nor Air France was in the top ten! In my opinion, years of poor managerial decisions, allied to a lack of long-term vision in relation to infrastructure investment, have contributed to this state of affairs.
If this trend continues - and the evidence is that is will - BA will a much less significant player in another ten years' time. That would be a pity.

Yes, as others have said, BA has exhibited a "fortress Heathrow" mentality (selling Go, for example, destroyed an excellent opportunity for BA to have a significant presence in the growing low-cost sector and one at Stansted; the airline which eventually acquired Go, easyJet, now has a very large Gatwick operation) and in future Lufthansa will have access to bmi's LHR slots. There's nowhere else for BA to retreat to....
As for the merger with Iberia. I've only ever experienced poor customer service standards from this airline. Iberia is more of an "employees' holiday club" than BA or its predecessor airlines ever were. I get the impression that talks on this might not be going well; it might be good for BA if the merger does not go ahead.

Hopefully those aircraft will be gone before the RBS Six Nations if they are being parked up for winter or there will be less capacity available compared to previous years.
ECHO and BAMC are usually used during uplifts. plus limited space for diversions during the winter as they are parked up on BAMC.

Think BA would be allowed to go over the 50% mark of holding landing slots at Heathrow shoul BMI put some of theirs up for sale? Truely would be fortress Heathrow and secure BA as London Airways!

Christmas cancellations have already been made so timetable is accurate.
To add to Seljuk22's list BA are also increasing frequencies ex LHR into europe these are
From 29th March 09
LHR/PRG ( 3 to 4 daily), LHR/BUD ( 3 to 4 daily), LHR/LIS ( 3 to 4 daily), LHR/FCO ( 5 to 6 daily), LHR/NCE ( 6 to 7 daily), LHR/ATH( 22 x weekly to 29 x weekly).
LHR/JNB ( 14 x weekly to 19 x weekly from May)
LGW/AGP ( 2 to 3 daily from 13th June)
Was very suprised to see no increase on the PFO service which has gone from strength to strength and has been carrying a very good club load year round.

Alas despite being shot down for merely mentioning the rumour a few months ago it would appear I was right...needless to say I am not exactly thrilled about the idea of operating to the KSA but at the same time it just goes to show that some rumours are accurate!
BA are returning to the KSA with 4 weekly flights to Riyadh on a 4 class 777 and Jeddah with 4 weekly flights on a 3 class 767. There will be no shuttling so the crew will be slipping in both destinations.
