Three less based charter aircraft. 1x MYT 320, 1x Finnair 757, 1x FJE 757. Quite a drop, no wonder it looks subdued.
Seems to be slightly more w pattern aircraft opperating though.

PLUS reductions in LS/EZY makes for ?? spares stands overnight for SO8. Removes considerable pressure for future apron developments

Unfortunately this is true. Due to the merger's and the reduction in night stopping aircraft (EZY, MYT, FJE, XL and LS) I dont think we will see any major Apron developments (i.e new stands) for a couple of more years now. Or until passenger numbers are predicted to significantly increase. The only work you can expect to see this year will be the winter works which start next week and then the runway at the end of the summer season. Oh and the demolition of the Gill hangar which has already started.

Did any one else nearly crash this morning on the right hand turn after the pass reader into the car park this morning? Would have been nice for them to grit the roads!

I don't think the problems BRS encountered were down to the wrong asphalt being used. Wasn't it the fact that they had a large stretch of runway ungrooved.... (could be wrong though, don't want to take the thread away from NCL going on about BRS).

Are there any restrictions in place timing wise for inbounds during runway work? Seem to remember a few years ago when it took place and 1 or 2 delayed inbounds had to divert?!

Any new route rumours? Reading other airport forums on pprune, NCL seems to attract the most suggestions/rumours etc on new airlines and routes, some come true, others a bit wild but wishful thinking. I suppose all just want the best for our local runway!

Its still a bit early to talk about the restrictions that will be in enforced as everything is still in the planning process. However I would anticipate a cut off time, where as if your not in by (for example) 23:00 then its bye bye try some where else!!

RE the reduction in LS, I wouldnt be so sure, they have something up their sleeve, Jet2 are about to start another cabin crew training course in Feb, if we are only keeping 2x 737 and 1x757 then we already have enough crew. I would expect to see at the least another 737 added.

RE the runway works, if there was a restriction like the other year where airport was closed from 2300 to 0600 then what would happen to say the Jet2 royal mail flights that land at about 1-2am ish?! or any charters that land after midnight

The Jet2 S08 757 program is all of a sudden very busy at NCL with 4 rotations (2 flights) per day, with the exception of one on a wednesday. The company is also recruiting more flight deck for NCL on the 75, so we'll have twice as many as last year for one less aeroplane, Mmmm?????

Also of note, we have just recevied news of up and coming ETOP's courses and CBT (computer based training) to be getting on with, as well as trialing new Electronic Flight Bags for the 75 at NCL.

All pointing to exciting things for W 08 (I know that's still a way off!!)

Jet2

Jet2 can't be recruiting with a view to running a cabin crew course in Feb for W08 positions what are those folks going to be doing between the end of their crew courses and the start of the winter programme.

I think that's meant to be c/c recruitment for the summer.

With the no. of flights now preposed (the same as last year) Jet2 will have to make up for the no.s it lost at the end of S07.

Just seen the Airliner World article on Jet2 at NCL. Didn't look too bad but glad I wasn't rostered to do it!! Not sure how 'factual' it was in places but could of been worse...............

Quiet how they are going to attract back all the many pax they messed about and alienated last year with a/c constantly breaking down and regular 4hour+ delays remains to be seen.
I've already booked with EZY.

What are the extra flights being operated by the 757 aircraft at NCL this summer then? Lets hope if and when ETOPS flights are started using AA then hopefully they will be a little more reliable than Jet2 have been previously. They did tend to suffer from unserviciability quite a bit, despite having a decent service?!

Re. cheap fares, I'd rather pay more than have the 6 hour delays I had with them last year and missing the first night on the way out and getting back to NCL on the return at an unscheduled time when they can't find anyone to push some steps up to the plane to let the pax off etc etc(ie 30 mins in the passport queue and then the dodgy baggage belts).

Jet 2

Could they be going to do flights for another airline this summer( XLA )??

Has some more scheduled flights been released for summer 08 to suddenly bring them up to the same no of flights as last summer ?.
