Ah, the night freight flights - should make the natives restless?
On a different issue what happened to Infratil's three year plan or was it a five year one...we have so many to choose from - and now we have a 20 year plan? This must be a/the business plan of which the local authority is awaiting to resolve the 106 agreement?
One wonders if it (the 20 year plan) covers the substantial costs of meeting the Environmental Agencies issues?

Yes, unfortunately the Conservatives held Thanet. However, their lack of a manifesto means there is no commitment to policy for the airport, but they are generally supportive of development. Also, four years till the next election means there is plenty of time for rants about alleged noise and pollution to die down.
Turning to freight performance, I have been concerned about the switch of MKA128 on Sundays to Ostend, and of course MKA117, which ran on Mondays from Manston to Lagos for a few months, has now reverted to Ostend. I've been told by an employee that MK loads per flight are up, so perhaps the total tonnage has not declined too much. Also, last week there were two MK flights direct to Accra. Is this a new flow or a one-off?
Can any of our fire chiefs help? How is MK throughput going?
Meanwhile, the confidential rumours rumble on. I know of one passenger and two freight prospects that are being worked on. Not next week, or the week after, but they are seriously worthwhile and will take a lot of preparation.
BTW, it was the previous owners of Prestwick that developed its relationship with Ryanair. I think Infratil have found it to be a bit of a problem.

Catering is all down to the holiday company and the airline to arrange....the airport staff at MSE did everyone a big favour that day by arranging supplies.

Catering for the first 2 flights should have been provided in PIK however the operator had not finalised the deal with Alpha.
For the Faro flight the airport staff rallied around to provide sandwiches at the last minute. For the next flight again nothing loaded in PIK but the airport staff had more notice and were able to arrange something locally. Sunday's flight was catered by Alpha in PIK.

The Sally B is set to arrive at Kent International Airport, known as RAF Manston in its military days, at around midday on Sunday and, weather permitting, will fly several circuits around the airport.

Correction: The stated March figure of 2,431 tonnes excluded a number of ad-hoc freight movements. The correct figure was a pleasing 2,610 tonnes.
In April, Kent International handled 2,205 tonnes of freight, nearly 80% up on the prior year. While this is 18% down on the correct March figure, reflecting lower fresh produce volumes from Africa as the UK and Europe growing season accelerates, it is 79% higher than the same month last year.
The level of freight growth at KIA is generally very strong, given IATA's recently reporting global freight growth of 2.3% for the year ending March 2007.
One particularly notable shipment of freight arrived during the month, when two Atlas Air 747s arrived with racing cars and other equipment belonging to A1GP.
INFRATIL AIRPORTS EUROPE (IAE) 2006-7
IAE's three airports recorded 3.1 million passenger movements and 56,500 tonnes of freight. Management remain focussed on attracting additional carriers and doing so on profitable terms. The European aviation market continues to grow markedly and Infratil remains confident as to its strategic positioning. EBITDA for IAE was a loss of £0.3 million (profit of £0.6 million) while its net contribution was a loss of NZ$20 million ($7million). The results were consistent with forecasts.

A. If the board of Directors and advisers listened to all the negative comments on this board.

There has been a lot of guessing at the losses being incurred at MSE and Lubeck.
The Infratil 2006 report stated a £4.3 Mill profit at PIK but this was reduced for European Airports to a £2.5 Mill Loss
Infratil Airports Europe report for 2007 shows a loss of £300K. So last year the 3 airports lost £2.5Mill and this year they lost £300k. This surely suggests that if PIK stayed flat at £4.3 Mill Profit, between MSE and Lubeck they lost £4 Mill which obviously nowhere near the £5Mill being suggested as a loss figure for Manston alone.
I am sure the other side will dispute my maths but at least there will be some action on this board.
PS Newmarket Travel flight to Verona on Sunday was full with 180 pax, also full from Verona back to Aberdeen.
