Mike Kruger visited the management in Ostend last week with a view to increasing operations through ostend and also adding additional warehouse space, hopefully this will not be to the detrement of MK's operation at Manston, or will it ??

MK are into Ostend big time and looking to expand thier operation there
As far as I can make out its happening now
Note the lack of MK flights into Manston last and this week
is it worth keeping the airport open ?
of course it is, if only to remind the good folk of ramsgate how lucky they are to live next to an airport, an international airport at that.

good spark
So what exactly reminds the good people of Ramsgate that they are so lucky to have an "international airport" on their doorstep?
It certainly isn't the continual roar of jets taking passengers to all corners of the world, and I am sure there aren't organised protest groups complaining about the vast numbers of cars and coaches bringing eager punters to the gates of KIA.
I wonder what has to happen to make people realise that in the South East, an area where the shortage of runway capacity is critical, still nobody wants to operate from Manston.
Why? Because it is in the wrong place. Pure and commercially simple.

Infratil's May report for KIA.
June's report will be interesting due to MK's inactivity..
Kent International handled 2,665 tonnes of freight in May, a strong year on year increase of more than 80% and a 20% improvement on April’s total.
The airport’s summer passenger charter operation, operated by Kent Escapes, began on May 3 and is serving three popular holiday destinations in Spain and Portugal.

Do I detect from the last few pages of postings that there is now a certain amount of disbelief in the viability of Manston.?? Have people begun to see the light at last.?? Hallelujah.!

Here we go again. Mods with better things to do have to remind the children among you that we don't take kindly to you throwing insults and abuse around - or slagging somebody off who might just have a better opinion than you do.

Some more bad news I'm afraid - no ALC outbound between 1/7 - 22/7. Again, there is an i/b flight on 1/7. The capacity has been redeployed to PIK for extra flights over their school holidays, before returning to MSE for the English hols.

Manston's Problem
The trouble with Manston is that the local area is exactly a hot bed of intrepid explorers. (I have evidence!)
Kent only has motorways because the rest of the country needs to get to France! I've got noting against the people or the place but that is the cold hearted truth.
Lincolnshire is the same. The only motorway is to the port from elsewhere.
Manston will struggle but it will pick up... very slowly.
The answer... cargo?
What about someone like an internal carrier to Manchester, Glasgow etc?
That's my two pence worth now I'm off...l
