Personally I have never been disturbed by night flying, but I realise I am in a very small minority, and the local feeling against night flights appears to be very strong.

Regardless of any legal procedures, any politician who sanctioned such activity would be committing political (perhaps physical !) suicide.

My message - No 457 - gives the links to read for yourself and not listen to the tosh being propounded here by MAG members.

They have been following the old-established policy of rubbishing the airport with one breath, and in the next screaming about noise from too much traffic.

We know that they are demanding Monday to Friday opening hours of 09:00 to 17:00 - yes! Closed the rest of the week, of course.

Still, one thing is certain; MAG's noise levels are increasing because the airport is developing.

What a sad life, when one's every waking moment is spent trying to destroy other people's livelihoods.

Or could be considered inept for pandering to the whims of a small minority of nimby's.

Mk Airlines Ltd

Whilst not immediately relevant to Manston, it is noted that a third airframe of MK's fleet (9G-MKU) has now been issued a UK Registration. It appears that Boeing 747-249F is about to become G-MKEA, the CAA website quotes it as "Awaiting Certification". There had been a rumour that MK were going to re-register their fleet and this would seem to support that idea. No doubt it will be a vistor from time to time, hopefully loaded with freight.

Since these aircraft will now come under the scrutiny of the CAA, I wonder if this presages MK's return to the UK as an operating base.

i would like to know from the mag whingers how long they have lived in the vicinity of manston. probably sold up, made a profit, moved to the coast and spent the rest of their lives complaining about the aircraft noise. along with the councilers from TDC who agree that it is important to create jobs but not having the guts to recommend growth for the airport. oh how fickle the politician. new generation aircraft are incredibly quiet, even the F100 was quiet on approch, the DC8 is an exception but the life of noisy aircraft is short lived. if the airport is a worthy propasition for a low cost or normal airline , it will happen in time, if not then its good night vienna. wont that make deedave happy!

A Gemini flight that normally runs through Ostend used Manston today; loaded in and out, so it must have been pre-planned. All that new equipment must have come in handy.

Maybe lucky with its timing too.

Quite often there is no operational radio, never mind radar, until 10 or 11am at Manston.

Seems that ANA Aviation have fallen in love with Manston, there are busy and interesting times ahead . . . . .

I am still unable to locate anything on the web about Kent Escapes 2008.

Anybody know where to look?

Oddly enough, the Kent Escapes website seems to be the place. Just try feeding 2008 dates into their holiday search facility and up come the availabilities.

I think they are not on the ball with their publicity, their webpage still illustrates the 2007 programme and their brochure link goes to the 2006 brochure. Not very clever in these days of high tech communication methinks.

Kent Escapes
If you want to book your holiday from MSE next year, call in the Airport travel agent, one is based in the airport.
Or you could ring them up.

Probably explains why some flights are half full or get cancelled altogether.
Seems the only destination available at the moment is Palma. When I spoke to them they couldn't confirm any other destinations and said that a decision would be made in the "next couple of weeks" (that was a couple of weeks ago).

By a rough calculation, it looks like the service has been cut to around 20% of the 2007 operation.

Kent Escapes 2008

Since the question of Kent Escapes ("KE") 2008 programme could impact on Manston operations, I queried KE about their website and below is the part of their reply.
Thank you for your email. The website is currently in prosess of being updated as we have just released dates and prices for Majorca for summer 2008 and Gran Canaria for the month of August. These have only just been loaded onto our computer system, and the web page will follow shortly.

next season

Of course...the other 80% of destinations will be flown by Easyjet, Ryanair, Wizz, Bmi and Aer Arann....they are also slow in updating their sites

who needs passenger services anyway?

Anyone living in Kent and who would love to travel without the stresses and strains of getting to Gatwick or Stansted.
Regarding Kent Escapes the publicity for 2007 was a bit low profile and going by the sluggish way they have started for 2008 I dont think the uptake will be great. Bring in a budget airline in a blaze of publicity and sensible destinations and you would soon see who wants a decent passenger service from Manston.
