What they need is a "real" tour op programme from either the likes of Thomson, First Choice, MyTravel or Thomas Cook. The likes of PMI, MAH, IBZ, TFS, CFU, HER, DLM would all go down a treat I am sure and they wouldn't even need base an a/c, W-patterns or Spanish based aircraft would work perfectly, so come on big guys, surely the demand's there???

Euroairport-

Do you still believe Kent Escapes are operating to the same eight destinations as Seguro Prestwick in 2008 ?

EU Jet proved there is some demand. Now how cheap your prices have to be in order to attract this demand is a matter for debate but Im sure the local Kent market could sustain more flights than currently offerred.

Taking HUY for example, with competition just 45 minutes or so away, still manages to maintain a decent portfolio of flights which shows that a small local friendly airport is appreciated by passengers. Im sure Manston can do the same for Kent

Good to see freight doing well

I think most people would be happy to pay a little more for flights from Manston, because we would save on car parking or taxi fares and travelling time. I paid £130 to get to Alicante just for the convenience of Manston, and to support the airport. I just hope that if a budget airline is coming in they make the announcement sooner rather than later. Lots of people like to book early it would be a shame if they missed out on early bookers.

As I understand it, bookings are being taken for some destn, the program for 2008 has not been released yet.
When the 2008 Holiday flights are released. (you can then tell I am wrong).

Newmarket Holiday are doing 13 holidays from manston next year to Capri,Lake Garda,Seven Citys of Italy, sorrento, tuscany , venice , Austrian Tyrol, slovenia and Madeira
About 100% up on this year. and more could be added.
due to demand !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sigh...........

Newmarket holidays is a tiny operation using a small handfull of one-off charters (3-4 flights?) to deliver a few people to multiple destinations.

It looks like a tidy little operation but it is very, very small.

Actually, there are 10 flights booked by Newmarket from Manston in the next 12 months.

Bit of a pointless debate going on...again...about passenger services.

Matt Clarke has told me several times that nothing will be announced until it's definite.

Infratil often don't announce things after they've happened.

I get just as frustrated as most of the posters here in not knowing, and waiting, and waiting.

Cargo is clearly booming. Passenger will take longer. I know for a fact that they are in continuous dialogue with several leading airlines. A deal will only be made when it's right for both parties.

So why don't we stick to rumours and news, and stop allowing people to beat us up?

So does anyone have any thoughts on the apparent draconian cuts in the Kent Escapes programme?

Angry

Decisions are still being made. My only thoughts are that if the Kent Escape programme is cut then you'll be rubbing your hands with glee as usual
Still trying to work out why it is that anyone who posts anything positive here is either ridiculed by you or met with sarcasm. Please tell us, what is your real problem with Manston, apart from the fact you seem to be a big supporter of London Ashford International?

looking back on his old posts, I think he lost money with plane station, and now wants the place to flop big time.

Thank you both for your contributions.

Any other thoughts on Seguro pruning their Manston operations to a minimal level, while maintaining a robust operation at Prestwick?

It's really down to Manston to get the prices they charge to the operators right if the want to attract low cost or IT operators and that's where the difficulty lies.
They've got to bite the bullet and be prepared to lose money for 18 months to 2 years before they can build up passenger numbers whilst they increase terminal franchisees, as that's where the money is made - not on passenger taxes.
Hopefully the two recent appointees will sort that out.

Sorry to dissapoint you Deedave, but whilst Newmarket holidays are a relatively small company, they operate a wide range of air travel, from day trips to IT holidays from many UK airports and until it was retired, they were responsible for organising and marketing every Concorde charter flight in the UK.

Indeed.

I am fully aware of this.

As this is a Manston thread I was referring to the Newmarket Manston operation, which from their website would appear to consist of five return flights.

Obvious to all I would have thought.

Except "Throat"

Seems strange that they're based in Ostend where they're never seen from one day to the next but are in and out of Manston on a daily basis. Wonder why that is?
