BHX

mansp

Everyone knows why these aircraft are parked at BHX, they have no
crew to fly them! The one in the hangar might have been broken but
the 2 x 146's parked at T2 and 2 x 145's also at T2 were just locked up, nobody working on them at all.

All I was saying was that it was unusual to see no Dash 8's parked and as far as I am aware they have taken over no 145 flights at BHX although they have been flexible with the fleet recently.

The other point I was making I was on a 15 year-old 735, which was
35 minutes early on a domestic route at the same time the flybe flight
was delayed (the 195 I think). Pax do notice these things, well some of us

You can have all the shiny new aircraft you like but if you do not have enough crews or can't run an on-time operation it is pointless.

They are parked for a reason - they are being withdrawn from service, or they are tech or there are no crews to fly them or they are just not needed at the moment.

They are not 'old broken' aircraft - what a stupid thing to say.

BA did not invest in BA Citiexpress or BA Connect. The 145 aircraft you see around the network were never part of the BA shorthaul fleet. They belonged to a BA wholly owned subsiduary and some of the same aircraft are being resprayed in Flybe colours. Others are being prepared for return to their owners.

It was not like this at BA Connect, but then BA Connect had not just taken over its biggest competitor. As you asked in another thread, things are getting much better and will soon be as good as most other regional airlines of a similar type.

Thats a fair enough comment, however, the crew issues have all but finished, just cos you cant see somebody working on an aircraft doesnt mean there ok to fly, (we have all been down a motarway and seen cones but no staff)

What i am saying is yes, you were early, but how many times were you late with BA? Flybe are not perfect, but they do listen and are trying to make it better.

Have any of the ex BA aircraft been removed from the fleet yet?

If not when are first one's going?

I am assuiming that the guys on the Q300's would be or would have been first as these would be the quickest to retrain. Have any of the ex Bacon 145 crew started training for the Q400 or E195 yet?

BE/BA

mansp

I have flown BA about 20 times with one cancellation due to a tech 1-11
and I was transferred to a rival airline within 30 minutes and got home
about one hour late. No other delays flying on 1-11's, 732's, 757's, A319's
146's and RJ100's, crew were always fantastic .

However things change and I shed no tears when BACON started or
ended, hopefully the futures bright at BHX the futures ......

flybe I have only flown once, the plane was late inbound then went tech
(dash 8) but still enjoyed the flight but I lost 90 minutes of my day trip
to Edinburgh.

Why are they being withdrawn?

Old? yes!

prone to going TD? yes!

a BA subsiduary? as you said 'They belonged to a BA wholly owned subsiduary'

we are back to this BA was best mentallity again, mabye thats why BACON was losing money hand over fist.

I wouldn't object if flybe had the decency - or is it infrastructure - to let people know what's going on when things don't go according to plan.

Recently my day trip ex-SOU to the Paris Airshow was reduced to 90 mins thanks to an un-announced 5 hour delay to the outbound. No info whatsoever in the departure lounge apart from delayed til 1035 (to a 0700 dep) I was told if I went back landside to find out what was going on I'd have to pay GBP10 for a new boarding pass.

I scouted around the departure lounge and found a flybe customer charter which suggested that refreshment vouchers would be issued under EU law. Unfortunately, the Aviance staff said there were no flybe staff at SOU to issue these. I tried ringing the various premium rate numbers on the charter - nobody at home until 0830.

Meanwhile I borrowed a Mayfly from one of the gates. When customer services awoke and said the delay was due to late inbound a/c from MAN I asked why they couldn't have txt/phoned to advise. I was told that they couldn't because the delay only occurred this morning to the inbound a/c scheduled for the flight (I suggested this was nonsense as to make an 0700 departure there would have to be an a/c out of MAN at 0500). I asked her to confirm that the delay was not known until today - she said yes, until I was already in the departure lounge - then asked why I was looking at a Mayfly dated yesterday which clearly showed the CDG flight to be ETD1035 and operated by an a/c off maintenance at MAN positioning in. No comment. And no vouchers, no announcement, nothing.

Eventually departed at 1200 with a very bemused crew who said they'd love to apologise but they had no idea what to apologise about!

And I wouldn't be writing this is flybe had the decency to reply to email comments via their website. Nothing at all received.

Unfortunately the flymaybe thing is catching on at work with numerous tales of combined flights and delays. As SOU must be lucrative yield-wise it's such a shame as people are now shifting back to Ryanair ex-Bournemouth and those in the Farnborough area going back to LGW/LHR.

I just wish they'd invest a few quid in customer care before they all - well the high yield types - desert.

The aircraft are not old - they are simply of a type which suited a different business model than that which Flybe currently uses. For that reason alone the ERJ 145 are being swopped out for Q400 and E195 aircraft. This is happening at the same time as the original Flybe 146 (an old fleet with the tech problems) are also being swopped out.

The last of the Q300 aircraft are now gone, the last one flying on a commercial service on the 1st July. All of the Q 300 crews (with the exception of 2 who are currentlly on groundschool) have either completed or are near completion of Q 400 conversion.

There has always been confusion over ownership. BA Connect was a subsiduary. It was not ever BA. It was kept at arms length until disposal. It was never part of BA's shorthaul fleet.

We are not back to 'BA was best' mentality. BA Connect had a stable lifestyle because it been running as a settled company with a stable workforce for sometime. Flybe is improving rapidly after the massive disruption caused by the aquisition of BA Connect. It is getting much better. I am pleased to be working for a company which has a future and has direction rather than one which no longer exists.

As you said

And i dont work for Flybe, before you ask.
Which is quite obvious by your ill informed comments.

PS

I do !

Lee Insolent

Customer service is not how it should be. We as crew will do our best to make your journey as you would like. There is no excuse for not keeping customers informed. Flybe know this and are in the process of appointing managers at airports for this purpose. We need you custom, it pays our wages. You expect and we must deliver. I apologise.

Another Spaceman - thanks.

I have relatively low expectations of low cost operators but there is a point at which customer service becomes something worth paying for.

I didn't try and complain when the company pay for a return trip SOU-JER at some ridiculous price (£350ish each for 3 pax Economy Plus) and the flybe lounge on the first floor was locked...perhaps no free booze anyway...but wasting a day's leave to go - however sad - plane watching at Le Bourget got me cross. Especially when the first aircraft we saw in the static park was G-JED? a flybe Q400 nicely painted with 'Low Cost But Not At Any Cost'; the natural reaction to seeing it wasn't positive....perhaps it could have been doing something more practical.

And as an aside, each time I've flown in a 146 recently the seat back 'low Cost But Not At Any Cost' environmental cards are marked E195. Some fellow passengers were wondering what the point was and started checking the emergency cards as the natural thought is that if the environmental card is for a different aircraft type then so may be the emergency card.

Hi, I am new to this so please bear with me

I am sorry to note Lee Insolents problems.....The Customer Service Team have had a lot of problems since the acquisition as BA were not doing as they promised (as part of the agreement when the acquisition went through)

So rather than ignore those BA peeps who have contacted them, they have been issuing individual responses as they do for Flybe pax.....therefore the response times have been longer.

BE have seen massive improvements in punctuality and crewing and things are looking up........

Flybe getting alot of coverage again on GMU regarding the smoke in the cabin recently when two cabin crew became ill. I think it was a spokesman for the TGWU who was calling for an investigation into the 146, stating that 'engine oil' was leaking seals were the problem. This may be the case but the speaker did not seem to be too expert on the matter.
I didn't hear the full report and will look for it on the BBC later.

Flybe to start IOM-LIV

I'm hearing strong rumours of Flybe looking to start IOM-LIV on high frequency basis, on top of 19.99 fares on MAN must be tough times.

145's

With G-EMBF & G-EMBG leaving this week for Warsaw en route to an Ukrainian operator are there anymore about to leave the fleet?

The CAA shows the above as "potential change of ownership" but these are the only ones at the moment.

Also why these two and not "BC", "BD" & "BE"? Are there leases due to expire shortly anyway?

embc & embd are both "heavy" 145s, ie they can carry a ton more payload than the other emb_ aircraft. The erj_ regs also have the higher payload - and the nicer fms's! Hopefully the management are aware of this!

I heard the rumour about EZY into IOM a while ago, thought that they had issues with the size of the 319's?

Ezy Iom

Seems this rumour started by a shall we say 'smaller low cost operator' in IOM. Has no truth behind it
