Priceless

I hope the mods don't mind me posting this link but is so funny unless of
course your holiday/business meeting or life has been ruined in the last
12 weeks: -

I just wish they would link it to Exeter news rather than BHX

Yes and they are saying CWL- CDG is a new route for the winter when it has been flying since April.

Quite a few of the routes are also just continuation, of current summer routes. A poor show from flybe, they'll have quite a few planes sitting around this winter.

yes that was what i was thinking, they have taken some routes from 7 day a week - 6 or 5 days a week, sure thats fine because you don't get as many passengers at winter, but your aircraft are going to be sitting there at the airport for 3 hours, not making any money. you might as well try a new route.

very poor! especially as they already have alot of aircraft on the ground

The long awaited apology:

Tuesday, July 03, 2007

Flybe today apologised to passengers in Northern Ireland who have been hit by delayed flights - but insisted that the problems were being resolved.

Mike Rutter, the airline's chief commercial officer who was on a visit to Belfast, acknowledged that reliability had been a problem in recent months.
We set ourselves high standards and have not been meeting them for a number of reasons - such as the availability of air crews."
"We have put additional crews and aircraft in six locations and this means we have a second fully crewed aircraft on standby at George Best City Airport."
Flybe's performance has been criticised by passengers who have christened the airline 'Flymaybe'.
Mr Rutter acknowledged that some issues had arisen as a result of the airline's takeover in March of the BA Connect operation.
He said Flybe had a different culture to BA Connect, and that this had posed problems with regard to some of the staff the airline had inherited.
Mr Rutter said that Flybe had been operating a 25-minute turnround at airports such as Belfast City since 2002, and insisted this provided sufficient time.

I could get really angry about the continuing way that the company seem to want to divide and rule. I could rant on about Flybe continuing to blame their woes on the BA Connect transition. (They wanted US, didn't they?). But I won't as it is a waste of my energy and time.

Ps - a 25min turnaround is ample, IF everything is ready. It leaves no time to catch up on delays that occur and with current wx generated slot delays - we haven't a hope.

Good luck one and all.

Fleet changes?

Now that the winter 2007/8 schedule has been released is there any indication of which aircraft are where and any timetable for handing
back any of the ex BACON aircraft?

BHX only has 9 morning departures for winter 07/08 (Toulouse has
been pulled) at the moment but 10 in the evening so it does not
appear to be any major change in the short-term. Bergerac, La Rochelle
Dubrovnik & Split rest for the winter as expected but Salzburg has
been dropped. Brest, Berne & Geneva amazingly have been retained.

Someone counted 15 flybe aircraft on the deck either today or
yesterday (afternoon) many of which with no activity around
them. Still makes BHX look busy

A 25 minute turnaround is not ample on the CDG - CWL - BHD as passengers have to get off the aircraft (on remote stand, as no Q400 bar at CWL). Passengers then have to clear immigration, be escorted through security and back to the boarding gate. I have lost count how many times an aircraft has gone delayed due to this.

P.S. Some Captains are having a go at the dispatchers at CWL as the Q400 is on remote most of the time and their wondering why that is. Could be something to do with Flybe not sending a pushback bar as E145 was the only a/c planned for this route but Q400 is operating it from now on.

Another Tech A/C at CWL today.

Atr 42

A steely grey ATR 42 has started to appear in the skies above Belfast. Is this Flybe's answer to all the problems they appear to have been experiencing recently and what routes is it mainly used on?

Angel

Not only the ATR42 they have on lease the VLM Fokker 50 lease is extended till the end of July and Europoean Air Charter has taken over from the Fookker 100 operating out of Exeter.
Although two more Dash 8 400 arrived in the fleet over the last week or so they seem a long way away from getting on to of the take over.
They released the new routes but dint tell you much on the ones they have cut back.
The Jersey-Manchester that they to over from Bacon is almost dropped for the winter the flight numbers are still for the Manchester but you go via Southampton could lose out to some one else if there is other carriers on the route which on this one is Baby with a B737 and cheaper fares.

More problems

I see there are more problems at BHD this morning.
Passengers wanting to travel to Birmingham at 7.05am will apparently be given information at 11.30am.
The 9.45am Birmingham service has been cancelled and there are Southampton cancellations as well.

One daily MAN-JER remains, which is pretty much what BA offered over the winter. The other two advertised as one stop via SOU. Out of the French regional routes, Brest and Rennes operate, but the others seem to be seasonal until the end of October.

The ATR42 seems to operate this routing most days:
BHD-GWY-BHD-ABZ-BHD-MAN-BHD-MAN-BHD .
