The short term car park has had a makeover around 2 years ago and has a nice new smooth layer of tarmac on it if you park at the end closest to the terminal. I can’t remember if that applies to the whole car park though but I can’t remember seeing any pot holes since it was fixed. Best thing to do is to park up and walk to the arrivals area.
If the wheelchair user has a mobile phone they could always ring you when they are outside the terminal so you can pick the passenger up in the drop off area.
Oh and unattended cars do get towed from the drop off area. It’s great entertainment and better than any TV reality show when the owners return who seem to be exclusively Eastern European types.

Paxing All Over The World
Thanks LTNman I normally use the mid-term and did not know of the re-surface.
The web site warns of fire and brimstone if you enter the zone where people get out of cars and use it for people getting into cars.
We need a 'smiley' for Steam Coming Out Of Ears, Caused By Airport Mgmt.
Any guesses on elapsed time:
Arriving on Flybe from IOM due 19:30.
Will be last off, trolleyed through to collect her case and then trolley out to front????

Mintel reports the credit crunch is starting to impact on UK consumer spending with a holiday the first non-essential to be postponed.
According to the latest British Lifestyles survey, 57% of adults have recently cancelled their spending plans because they were uncertain about their personal financial situation.
Some 20% said they had delayed taking a family holiday as a result, while 16% had not carried out planned home improvements and 11% had chosen not to increase their savings.
Peter Ayton, Mintel’s chief statistician, said: ‘People are clearly starting to get a sense that things are not as easy financially as they once were.
‘In light of the credit crunch, borrowing has now become harder and we are likely to see even more people having to make sacrifices when it comes to their spending in the future.’
The most common reason for belt-tightening was the rising cost of day-to-day living, cited by 44% of those who had cancelled spending plans.
A further 17% said they had been hit by unforeseen household bills and the same proportion that they just felt the need to be more careful.

Thomsonfly's 2009 schedule shows a reduction of about 25% on 2008. Apparently dropped are Tel Aviv, Dubrovnik, Pula and Kefalonia. Most 2009 flights are full season (May-October), and much of the reduction is the result of the removal of an aircraft that is Luton-based from late July to October 2008.

KLM 737-900 at LTN today!
Anyone know why the KLM 737-900 was at Luton today? Aircraft was PH-BXO I was working on stand 7 when it pulled onto stand 13 but never got a chance to find out

KL1009, scheduled into LHR.
LHR showing 'excessive' delays according to tracker websites, so presumably this was another fuel diversion. Left AMS 10.59, arrived LHR 14.21!!
Did the pax deplane at LTN, or did they get an expensive airborne taxi ride?

TUI reduction makes sense, no doubt they will assess bookings and add capacity should the market demand it. I always thought that launching brochures over a year ahead (or more) was a bit confusing for the travelling public.

With diesel at £5/gallon and petrol at over £3/gallon, if I lived anywhere north of the M25, why the hell would I choose to drive down to LGW if I can fly from LTN? Trouble is, the traveller's choice is too often dictated by the airline strategists many of whom appear to subscribe to the "Dr Beeching Technique" (run it down, reduce the services, then claim that pax stats show a fall in numbers thereby making the route unviable, so close it...)

But if true this will have a major impact on Luton, as the central area bus and coach station will be no more. I wonder what the airport will do about this then?
At present, buses and taxis from the airport's official firm are allowed to pick up and set down passengers outside the terminal building. But new safety recommendations after the terror attack on Glasgow Airport last summer have meant that tighter restrictions are being introduced across the country, which will see all vehicles from stopping in front of the terminal in two years' time.

Ryanair Stands Ltn
Anybody out there know if ryanair only use some or all the stands a ltn ie only use stands 1 to 3 etc etc
only what to know as going from ltn to reu on tuesday and do not wish to wait in lounge until the rush to gate .

All the FR flights are allocated stands 1-4 so your flight will depart from gates 1-4
Make sure you leave plenty of time for security etc as the gates are at the far end of terminal

Almost all of FR's departures are from gates 1-3, and FR have that area of the departure lounge decked out in their colours. When you pass through security, keep walking through the 'new' departure lounge, and go round the walkway virtually as far as you can (a 5-10 minute walk). This is in fact the old departure lounge, and has its own eaterie.
You will then be close to the gate for when the flight is called.

You are cutting it fine with that timing!
Three weeks ago tomorrow, Mrs IB transited through Luton at around 12.00, having checked in on-line and used bag drop for a ZB flight.
It took 55 minutes to get through security.

Better to be an hour early than a minute late? If you are early there is more to do in the main departure lounge than in the area of the old departure lounge which now serves gates 1-4. Here there is nothing to do apart from getting a drink and eating finger food.

No vehicles close to the Tinminal in two years time? Sounds plausible and a nightmare for ACDL who inherited a central area with only a single access/exit point!
Mind you, Parkway was to be one of the primary 'check in' zones and a tram like contraption was to be constructed linking the two (thus the third lane not used under the taxiway). This was 'financially' design engineered out of the Parkway project which in hindsight was encouraging the use of public transport, so was 'green' in concept well ahead of its time!
