Luton branded the UK’s least friendly airport
London Luton hits out at claims that it is UK's rudest airport
Maybe that explains some of the posts on the SEN & STN threads

The other evening we landed 10 min early, 45 min later we were on the M1 heading home which included a wait for a long-term car park coach. Car was still in the same place and not up on bricks. Lots of empty spaces in the car park which I thought was unusual considering it is August.
I live slightly closer to Gatwick, but the fact that you can be on the motorway so swiftly means Luton is a 'no brainer' for us.
I am struggling to understand how a major airport can be called friendly? I'd much rather miserable and efficient though!

Buster - It's all a ploy by Skyscanner to get people to keep looking at their website, and get their name in the press, without having to do what people traditionally would do - namely pay for advertising. If it's good enough for O'Leary....

Spot on! A clever, if not common ploy by them to gain free Advertising. As they are based in US, who the hell did they survey in little old Luton and who validates their results?
Much like Salt is good for you one week then a big health hazard the next (energy drinks, breakfast cereal bars etc. etc.)

Further to the news about rudest airport, this letter was published in The Independent on Friday 24th.

Air of rudenessYou say Luton is Britain's rudest airport (22 August). That's only the staff. Try walking against the flow of passengers.

Only at Luton
Peter Smith (letters, 24 August) thinks Luton Britain's rudest airport. It must also be the only one not to have drinking-water fountains for passengers, the only one to charge drivers for disembarking passengers anywhere near the terminal buildings and only one to provide just a dozen seats for more than 200 passengers in the gaterooms.

That made my Sunday morning, almost choked on my breakfast.
Are these people from the real world?
Maybe LTN should apologize for having too many passengers walking around!!

Stansted parking
From November a new parking scheme ordinary travellers will have to pay at least £2 to use a new “express” drop-off point, located in a reconfigured 15-minute pick up zone adjacent to the terminal, or use a new, free, 30-minute set down and collection point being set up by the mid-stay car park.
Passengers will be bussed to and from the area, in a journey taking around five minutes, by courtesy coaches. A £1 charge will be levied on those waiting more than 30 minutes and up to an hour in the “free” area.

In a case where the potential seriousness of an overrun is considerable there must be an argument for providing a RESA longer than the absolute minimum.
Interesting. The recommendations have been ignored?
I suppose the risk level is still virtually none, but with bigger aircraft such as B772s using the airport recently, the likelihood of an overrun becomes greater, albeit still extremely low.

The 10m drop where the aircraft became airbourne again before breaking up and catching fire was replaced by a gentle slope. From memory this was forced upon the council many years ago.
