Passenger Handling
DOGMA
Reading into some of your travelling problems, some relate to ground handling, they might only be contracted to the airline, if you have problems with the ground services you should put the complaint into the airline and they can followow the problems up.
This happens a lot of place poor ground services and it seems the airline which is no part of the handling company hets all the stick.
As for the aircraft being tied the company in it earlier days long ago flew Dart Hearlds and has progressed to not only freight but now big time passenger work the aircraft are not brand new rember but this does keep fares down so what do you want a brnd spanking new B737 to do you trips in and the price a lot higher?
Just be greatfull you have had the experience to fly with them you could always drive your Roll Royce to where you want to go?

We probably need to get this thread back to the takeover talk.
This type of rumour has been going round for ages due to both being in the north and both having the same boeing fleets. I believe the management of both companies know each other.
If it was true I believe that the management of jet2 could change round the fortunes of GSM for the better and it would be a useful tie up for the whole of the north.

Ive flown about 8 times with Jet2 ex Manchester. Have always found them very professional in all they do. Some of the aircraft do look very tired & shabby, but that is not unique in the lo co world.
Judging by the GSM longhaul shambles this year, they could learn alot from Jet2, or maybe Je2 are just ideal people to sort it out for them.?

Jet2 to buy GS???
The question is what with. Dart group shareprice in the doldrums. Borrowed money far too expensive even if is was available. No, just another rumour or perhaps smoke and mirrors from lowefarfineder house. (Who ever came up with that catchy name?)

Can't see any truth in this one.
LS are supposed to be looking to start some long haul flights, but they have plenty of 75s already.
Our 76s are busy making lots of money!! Good job really, as this will give the new management time to turn GSM around after the problems of S07!

Well we will see, I wouldnt mind joining with GSM, seem a fairly decent bunch of guys so would be cool, also they could help us get into long haul with ETOPS and the 767 of course, and lets not forget the 2x 787s on order!

The globespan thread has been closed and this one has had nothing on it for weeks....so someone out there must have something noteworthy to add!!!
What does 08 hold for Jet2???...are they going to be pursuing big things, and if so, where? Are they going to consolidate at LBA and (hopefully!) BLK?
I for one think that a buyout of GSM would make sense - similar routes, ethos, northern bases, more modern a/c and a new image for a battered brand (thanks to Watchdog etc etc - and mods I'm not judging, just being pragmatic)
If LS don't need quite so many 73's at Manchester due to EZY imminent announcements then there is plenty of room for 4 based a/c at BLK...the apron repairs should be solid well before S08 kicks off.
Someone out there has the answers!

Phillip Meeson are you Reading this??
Maybe Jet2 should consider a venture down south and look at taking on Flybe at Exeter, There is a proven sun route market which Jet2 could make a good dent on Flybe's profits. The fact that Jet2 have an aircraft based at Exeter for the Royal Mail contract which could be swapped over to a QC aircraft to enable a single aircraft operate both the pax and mail routes given the right scheduling.
If PM reads these pages, have real look at it, there is cracking potential in the Exeter / South west market.

I hope i don`t have my facts crossed, but if Jet2 were spawned from Channel Express, why do they only have bases up North?
What happened to Bournemouth and even all the London airports?

Jet2
LS seem to be heading in the right direction, as covered previously in the thread, Holiday Packages, more routes.
They don't seem to be looking to the south for ideas as they have opened up 12 new LBA routes [La Rochelle, Madrid, Cyprus, Mahon, Hamburg, Geneva] just a few there. No sure about NCL, MAN, BKL but im sure theres plans.
LS aren't looking to be heading down hill soon, and with eyes open for new A/C i would guess that apart from some more 737/757's the odd 767 may pop up soon
Good Luck jet2, the only airline keeping LBA worth while

bit more.....
still scanning the thread
Would j2 get the 757's ETOPS certified for the Trans-atlantic routes? If so LBA could be on the cards for a US service?? If not then im guessing it have to be NCL as MAN has enough US services with Delta, BA and AA there each morning.

Jet2 seem to be taking on a lot of cabin crew for their bfs base at the moment. I know a few who are starting in Jan, but they are advertising on their web site plus holding an assessment open dayover the past weekend.
Seems strange seeing as next Summer theres going to be no BGY/PRG flights plus no real increase in the number of flights. The only new thing at the moment is the 757 for the summer which only requires 5 crew.
Their must be something in the pipeline for the new year. New Routes???

Am I too lazy to search, but people tell me that Jet2 will no longer fly to Murcia next year? Is EZY the replacement?
When are Jet2 releasing next summers timetable?

I worried from day one about Jet 2 at Manchester,so much competition on most routes but they have done ok it would seem. I suspect Easy and Ryanair will squeeze them now though, thats possibly why the retraction to Leeds where they have no competion. I want them to survive and prosper so I can join them for the last few years of my carrer.
