Page 65 effectively tells a lot of the story. A mess of relationships, (failed) oversight and regulatory confusion.

Indeed.

From page 150 onwards is what stunned me, the AAIU are to be absolutely commended for this report. Anyone reading the transcript between the Tower and the AFO would feel I think a bit emotional as have I, certainly the darkest day for the airport in its history. I'm just hoping now that the families of those bereaved and those who survived get there day in court with Air Lada, Flightline and Manx2 (now Citywing) - even the last part, how eager they were to get rid of the history of what had happened is something utterly deplorable, and don't be fooled with the ''management buyout'' either, its the same management that was there on 10/02/11 as is today - Let's hope all 11 recommendations by the AAIU are scrutinised by the EASA, particularly recommendation 6 (IRLD2014006). I looked forward to the reaction from both the AESA and EASA.

Finally a form of closure in part, rest in peace to all six of those deceased and I hope the other six are doing well. Day of reflection for anyone in Cork Airport today.

They're operating from Shannon from 1st April. Big blow to Cork Airport as Warsaw has been linked to Cork since 2005 and we've had flights to either Krakow/Katowice since 2006. Are we still going for growth lads?

So 2 routes being closed ex Cork, Wizzair ran out of town and then once FR see them out of the market they close the routes.

If Wizz came back would FR return to these routes? Stinks of abuse of a dominant position, and to think some were advocating FR take control of EI.

EasyJet, GO, the list goes on of airlines ran out of town and then the airlines who wouldnt come near Ireland for this very reason. Great for jobs, tourism etc.

Thought I'd share some exciting news, Louis Gossein and Henry Nzynski of WestJet were in Cork this morning, apparently they met representatives of the airport team at an event and were ''enthusiastic about the idea of Canadian flights to Ireland's second city'' - At least we have formal discussions now.

Roof has been structurally damaged at Cork Airport this afternoon, debris has fallen into the departure area and on the arrivals/departures ground level entrance ~ There are reports of some damage to small aircraft and the phone lines are out - All Operations are suspended.

To confirm there are no injuries and all ground staff and airport staff are restricted from entering the apron.

Cork -4% for January. I can't see February being any better given the weather related disruption. Sad to say that if this trend isn't reversed, Cork will be heading for its 6th year of negative growth in a row.

And in classic Cork luck, EI-FAS just carried out a MAP.

Update - EI-FAS is positioning to Dublin, so the scheduled commencement of operations from Mon was always correct, silly me!

Cork US Link?

Renewed efforts are underway to secure a transatlantic service for Cork. It's not going to be easy but best of luck to the management team with their effort.

A flight to America from Cork? What next!

That will be the Cork Airport Development Council hard at it then!

A much better name would have been the Cork Airport Action Group!

Now, when did we hear that one before?

Ah, yes, it was thirty five years ago!
