Because they would
a) Not make any money
b) Be able to make more money using the same asset from Heathrow
Simple as that. That is why people aren't falling over themselves to re introduce service to the regions. It's borderline profitability and London makes shed loads more yield. As a business, one bad season and you're dead.

Seems to me that Virgin are at best just standing still. With BA expected to announce a european expansion and BMI ordering 5 x 330's for the open skies onslaught, what have VS done? Oh yes ordered shiny new green aircraft for 2011 delivery! So it's a four year consolidation period while the opposition take advantage.

LGW to MCO...worth checking in on-line?
Folks,
Recieved my tickets in the post last week for Friday's flight to MCO...
Now we're arriving (hopefully) at LGW at 0835 courtesy of FlyBe. Not a through ticket, so we'll have to collect our bags and then do the full check-in again for VS15 to MCO.
My question...is there much benefit in checking in on-line? Is the baggage drop-off option better than full check-in? Tempted to try it, but nervous as well...doesn't the bag drop desk close before the normal check-in desk option?
Thanks in advance for any advice...

Online Checkin opens at least a couple of hours before Twilight checkin, giving you access to the majority of seats before the twilight gang.
Bag drop is open for the same amount of time as the normal check in desks.
Are you a Fc Silver or Gold member? if so you can bag drop at the premium desks. Don't forget you can if economy and no FC or red card holder, bag drop at the standard desks as well.
Also, you can check in on line then drop your bags off the night before at twilight checkin

RE: Atlantic expansion
Afternoon people, just wanted to know if Virgin are still considering Bermuda as a possible future destination?
I was talking to someone in Bermuda who works within the tourism department, and according to him they approached both Virgin and Zoom about setting up shop, ideally breaking British Airways 60 or so year monopoly and thus bringing down the high air fare, according to him BA gave Virgin a tough ride during the application process and they subsequently decided against Bermuda to concentrate on the Caribbean market instead.
Thus looking at the success of Zoom, im wondering if Virgin are regretting their decision of not flying there, are their any chances of them re-looking at BDA.
Cheers.

Actually went to a business briefing last week and according to the management no more routes for 3 years until the 787s are due to come along. I think there are a lot of existing issues with a lot of current routes that need tinkering with and addressing a lot of things that have been left unattended in the airline during the last 2 years of fast growth.

So what about the latest announcement of an A380 / B748 competition?
B748 would fit seemlessly into the LGW fleet, and the A380's already on order for 2013 aren't exactly being rushed into service...
But maybe the A380 gives a capacity benefit where it could be best used (eg. 1 A380 to MCO on light days rather than 2 744?)...

That is the only SP I can think of that regularly haunts Vegas.

That very machine is sitting on the apron at KLAS right now and has done so for the last couple of days. I'm led to believe it is used to transport the "high rollers" to and from the casinos of LAS
