The news about Bournemouth is really depressing it just seems to go from bad to worse !

I understand from the airport travel agent and local agents that they have been inundated with request s for seats to all the usual winter hot spots and have had to point them in the direction of Exeter and Bristol !

Can not understand why EasyJet / Monarch or Palmair have not jumped in for even the christmas period just to bolster bookings

Why? Thomson are still doing them (well, the Canaries anyway) - all be it only about once a week.

Have Flybe confirmed this? Bournemouth is not bookable from October, Manston is bookable throughout the winter albeit on reduced frequencies (some weeks only Mon and Fri). Flybe summer flights not released yet so maybe BOH going seasonal?

Would not be surprised if it has been pulled, but what load factors do they expect on one flight a day at completely the wrong time? I have had to use SOU twice in the period it has been operating because i needed an early am out and late pm back. No good for business users at all.

Flybe could have made BOH-MAN work if they wanted to. But we all know the only reason they did it was for predatory purposes. When bmibaby had announced BOH-JER, they indicated more routes on the horizon.

Since the withdrawal of baby and more recently ourselves (albeit short term) there is no reason to fear erosion of their SOU base, so absolutely no need to keep BOH going.

They have also dropped their Manston service which had dismal load factors.
Rumour or fact? It is still bookable throughout the winter months unlike the BOH service which will only let you book until October.

Passenger numbers were up 8% in September to 93,528 (CAA provisional stats).

Ironic that passenger numbers and general route performance & load factors are strengthening and doing well. Considering what will be happening Nov-Jan.

Agreed Nakata77. Seems strange. Thank Goodness for Thomson who seem to know what to do with BOH all year round!

Bizarre ! A Really Busy Summer and all three base airlines doing the same routes.

Both Ryanair and Palmair seem to be thinking along the same lines, that the Double Dip will happen this winter and everyone will be staying home.

It will be interesting to see if Bristol, Exeter and Southampton Pax numbers increase with hardly any routes from BOH being available.

Is the New Arrivals Building started ?

The company which runs Bournemouth has ploughed in about £45 million, which is currently financing the construction of the arrivals terminal and then the relaying of the airport access road. They are not going to pull the plug on that because of the situation over the three coming months. All along it has been an investment in the medium to long term future of the airport which, assuming some sort of economic recovery, should be reasonably healthy.

IJM hits the nail on the head.

Dillthedog, too much effort im afraid

I shoudnt have fed the troll.

As for Ryanair returning, well they have already said they are taking a three month break from services and will return after Christmas. Clearly they anticipated weak sales during that period. Thomson will still be flying from there, and i believe Easyjet to GVA too? Im lead to believe relations between FR and BOH (and EMA) remain good, and they do alright from BOH for the mos part. I hope they can attract more 'city' destinations once the economy becomes more favorable, perhaps some 'w' patterns by EZY?

Either way, its nice to hear the terminal will be completed soon, at least there will be less disruption over the winter period.

Congratulations 'second comming'!

You've successfully made it onto my ignore list. It's quite an exclusive club, and you're the only member. Anyone else want to follow my lead?

Second Coming.

FYI. have you not heard of investment for the future. I'm pretty dam sure building work up and down the country has not stopped. That's a pretty dum thing to say. We all know times are hard but some actually take chances and invest in what they believe to be a good future. Which I believe BOH will be when growth returns. If you want to compare us to SOU I think youd better shut up there. Why? Werent BAA ordered to get rid of some airports recently?? And how many airlines HQ's do you have in SOU. Its not Flybe, they are at EXT. Then see how many BOH has. In addition you are such an irritating little boy/girl that destroys good topical threads. Now please just bog off and go and play with your PC and FSX

OK. You will no doubt note that this thread has been severely culled. This was due to inept and silly posts made by two or three people who have now gone. Others were related posts and pointless to keep.

This thread was also creeping into the doldrums. No point in that either.

Keep on topic and please stop 'inventing' anything that is not fact.

There web site says they are producing a late winter / spring brochure and would be released in a few weeks time
