Long Haul

I posted on this kind of thing back in Nov. JPM have a good deal of pax traffic between the south coast and NYC, both US staff coming to UK and UK staff to the US. They also have a fair bit to India and the far east. But there's a lot more around than just JPM.

Both NYC and DXB offer excellent hubbing for the many folks that travel long haul extensively from the Southampton - Salisbury - Bournemouth/Poole triangle.

A 757 with long legs and a code share with EK and CO should do very well. Even a 330 with a decent J class.

Everyone is sick of LHR chaos and the associated motorway lottery of getting there.

BGI is very popular in the winter, but YYZ and MCO are a stretch I think, could be better served thru NYC.

As for Bermuda - thats a more likely stop off for the luxury yacht on the way to Newport from the Med.

Second Fokker 27

Area 51

The Electra operated the normal Monday to Friday Mail and Newspaper flight down to Jersey, as for the 2nd MNG Cargo Fokker 27 being at Bournemouth remains a mystery?

long haul potential

ryanair1 - these may help:

CAA Stats 2003 for long haul from BOH 90 min catchment:

thickest routes:

New York 235,000
Toronto 76,000
Orlando SFB 156,000
San Francisco 121,000
Dubai 77,000
Los Angeles 63,000

thinner routes:

Bangkok 55,000
Hong Kong 45,000
J'burg 46,000
Cape Town 33,000
Sydney 47,000
Washington 45,000
Miami 42,000
Barbados 33,000

If Barbados is so successful from BOH (only in the winter) then it would lead me to believe the others will be very fruitful - as there is higher demand! Plus remember this was 5 years ago so demand will have further increased since then.

CABIN CREW BOURNEMOUTH 08
1ST TRAINING COURSE TO COMMENCE AT STANSTED AIRPORT: 3rd March 2008

could it be that they are taking over the routes for Thomsonfly? Operating them on their behalf? Thomsonfly's schedule clearly is over one aircraft worth and Thomsonfly have already announced they are only basing one T-fly a/c in 2008 summer... ?

Saturday only route, last flight to BGY from BOH is Sat 29th March 2008.

Does anyone know why MAD isn't back? Last year it did great numbers and lots of business PAX used it as a connenction to Iberia flights as well as SLF using it for weekend breaks. Very surprised by it's ommission from the new timetable.

BGY Flights

So looking a bit further on, do we think there is any chance of getting a BGY operated to BOH on a more regular service???

As a complete uninformed guess not knowing the PAX numbers for this years flights, BGY may be back next year as a winter sports route from BOH but Milan as a whole has major issues with locals against the airports and most if not all route expansions are suspended while a public enquiry takes place.

Thanks for the information on Milan / Bergarmo. Real shame only once a week. Milan is a great short stay destination. Though I also love Bergamo and could happily spend a weekend there. The old town is often used on those car ads that feature super mini sprinting around.

Amazed at protests in Madrid (Capital of decent size Country / Economy) had no idea about it. I bet Barcelona must have a wry smile

Nice to see FR try Murcia as well as Alicante. Hopefully the routes will perform well and encourage FR to base more aircraft.

Well done to BOH, Shame the 2nd PIK service is so early in the afternoon though. With those timings, would BHD or EDI have been better (keeping PIK once daily with the PIK based aircraft)?
