A Dash has been covering Eastern flights out of ABZ for a couple of weeks now.
Debate about the shape of ASW going forward is probably more appropriate on the ASW thread.

Was reading today that Eastern are to continue the fixed wing support to Scatsta from ABZ, with Bristow having retained the contract to fly personnel from Shetland for the IAC for the next 5yrs.

My understanding is that all ASW aircraft are to be retained. The two leases which are about to expire will be renewed and the aircraft painted in a new ASW livery along with new interiors!

Aberdeen crew room is now called the departure lounge....
The Scatsta deal all signed up, pity we have dwindling number of pilots left to fly the aircraft.
Rumours of another batch of resignation letters going in shortly as jet2 make further offers. Some seriously experienced people amongst them...

I guess T3 being what they are will always struggle to retain pilots when shiny metal & bigger bucks comes a-calling! Especially when there is an apparent upturn as seems to be happening just now.
Looks like they may have to recruit shortly if this is correct!
Perhaps moving away from J41 is the way to go, or is there still a requirement for them going forward?

The problem with scatsta is the high experience levels demanded by the contract. In an improving market you will not keep these sorts in Aberden on an eastern TP salary.
The J41's trundle on but they have started to break the older ones for spares, so the fleet is thinning out a little.
Prob more 135's to come.
Rumours that flybe may attack the east coast routes when the P18 airway is upgraded/formalised next year?

Interesting, however unlikely in the short term. As an ATCO in the area, there is no chance of getting P18 upgraded

Weather is fine here. T3 (as do others) usually cancel a bunch of rotations in summertime when business people are mostly away on summer holidays & not doing business. However with ABZ passenger numbers generally falling off a cliff, I think T3 have removed some rotations until such time as the economy picks up again...IF it picks up!
