Anyone heard anymore about jetstream 41's being sold for a startup in Romania? There is an agency recruiting flight crew for it, but nothing circulating about who the new operator is?

The french rumours seem well founded, but there would be quite a bit of prep to do in the uk to free up airframes and crews for any new venture? I understand the angers service was well received by the french, although loads slipped in the winter, so its entirely possible that new services could be set up down there.

Question

Just had a look at PPJN which adds to the "speculation" about Dijon.
Also note they seem to be looking for crew. Could anyone fill in the blanks on the TR costs. Is it one of the deals where you pay it yourself but get it paid back over a few years, or do you simply pay for it, and never see it again?

Chester Bse closing?

Can anyone confirm the rumour that Easterns Chester (Hawarden) base is closing, with the Airbus contract to Filton changing to another operator?

The new Airbus contract (Chester-Filton-Toulouse) has been awarded to bmi regional with Embraer 145s to start in July. I can't tell you what this means as far as Eastern's Chester crews are concerned but I suspect it will not be good news.

Eastern Airways cancellations today mon 4th May

Does anyone know why so many flights by Eastern Airways are cancelled today? Is it due to being a bank holiday or what?

A lot of their flights cancelled from Aberdeen and other airports.

Flights cancelled? Are you sure you don't mean "normal timetable rotations reduced"? There is quite a difference. Their schedule over bank holidays has always been trimmed to reflect the low demand.

Bank Holiday. Many of Eastern's business customers dont want to fly today, hence the reduced schedule. Usually happens every Bank Holiday, and between Christmas and New Year too

And I guess that also means no more ABZ-NCL-SOU & back. So I guess they're still keeping ABZ-NCL, & a separate NCL-SOU? Or will it be ABZ-NCL-???

Not as complicated as I first posted. Having looked a bit more closely all three flights are ABZ-LPL-SOU

0640 ABZ-LPL 0750 (T34071)
0810 LPL-SOU 0900 (T34071)
0930 SOU-LPL 1020 (T34072)
1040 LPL-ABZ 1150 (T34072)

1430 ABZ-LPL 1550 (T34075)
1620 LPL-SOU 1720 (T34075)
1750 SOU-LPL 1850 (T34078)
1920 LPL-SOU 2040 (T34078)

1500 SOU-LPL 1600 (T34076)
1630 LPL-ABZ 1750 (T34076)
1820 ABZ-LPL 1940 (T34077)
2010 LPL-SOU 2110 (T34077)

But off note is the rotations operated from the SOU end, were T3 closed their base a while ago

The first Aberdeen - Liverpool - Southampton - Liverpool - Aberdeen rotation in the morning is to be operated by SAAB 2000s with all other flights scheduled to be flown by Jetstream 41s.

Schedules from Liverpool to Aberdeen and Southampton commence on Monday 6th July with no weekend flights scheduled.

Interesting.....

So Eastern now have a surplus of crew in the North West as a result of recent MAN and now Chester base closures? New routes come along featuring Liverpool but with no aircraft based there?. By the looks of it they have decided to base a J41 aircraft in Southampton, a base that they shut about a year or so back?

The morning rotations start at Aberdeen using a Saab, are they changing other services to free up an aircraft to do this?

Re the Saab.

It looks like the early (0640) Aberdeen/Newcastle/Southampton is the one to be rerouted to be Aberdeen/Liverpool/Southampton.

Does this now change the Part Time or redundancy issues mentioned on PPJN?

No,I don't think so.
As far as I can ascertain, the newest, or most inexperienced, FO's have been told that some of them are going to have their flying hours reduced with the according adjustment in pay.
Not ideal, but I understand that they've also been promised resumption to normal pay and a refund when market conditions permit.
Eastern aren't the biggest operator, but they've always treated their employees decently and, as far as I know, honestly.
