Paseenger figures are now available; the press release is at Solid start to the year for Airport as passenger numbers grow - Isle of Man Airport Website.

Although it's interesting that the basis for this positive news is from a comparison with January 2010;
January Weather in UK Sends Airport Traffic Plummeting - Isle of Man Public Services -.
The observant cynic may note that January 2010 was hit badly by weather problems, so a 3.6% increase is not all that amazing.

Times quoted will be GMT, so it's arr 0540 local dep 0640. Usual hours of operation have the airport opening at 0615 local or by arrangement. Assume then they've made an arrangement. The first dep scheduled is BE to LGW at 0645, so the timing is not that unusual.

The Flybe flight from Manchester last Friday touched down at IOM at about 18.30 (after waiting for the fog to clear sufficiently) and was ready to leave again well before 19.00 for its 18.40 return to Manchester.
I'm sure that timing wouldn't appear on a schedule, but we know that it can be done!

Dear Ms. Reynolds,
On average, people have less money to spend than a year ago. Flights are more expensive than a year ago.

How do you expect the passenger figures to be anything but worse?

Yours,
Mr. Perplexed N. Baffled.

wheel problems

Is this the same problem that SAS had with there Q400s I dont think Flybe have ever had a wheel problem with the Q4 landing at Ronalsway:

3 March 2011

A Flybe plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Exeter Airport after a wheel fell off. The Flybe Bombardier Q400 took off from Exeter International Airport at 1225 GMT with 39 passengers and four crew on board.

A wheel detached shortly after take-off, forcing the plane to circle for about 90 minutes before landing. The UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch is investigating.

No not the same problem, this was not related to the undercarriage in any way - not sure what the actual issue was but the crew and ground staff did an excellent job and deserve a big thumbs up.

As a side note, has Manx2 operation on IOM been affected by the incident in Cork? Odd question I know but it seems some airlines are unable to continue operations after an incident whilst others are able to carry on

Heres Ms Reynoldsway on the subject of whose doing well.

On the positive side Liverpool traffic increased by almost 2,600 passengers with Flybe and easyJet carrying between them over 11,600 passengers. Routes operated by Manx2.com also showed encouraging performance, despite a reduction of capacity to meet lower demand, achieving between 60% and 70% occupancy on four out of five routes. The Scottish routes operated for Flybe by Loganair also produced improved results overall with Edinburgh increasing by 18%, and Glasgow, despite a fall in traffic, selling almost two thirds of the seats on the route over the month.
