Not really....I think you will find that I have said I hope it can drag something out of the bag. It's my home airport I wish it no harm. However, being realistic, in the present climate it is in real trouble....To deny that is foolish. Hopefully it can continue as an airport. It should rightfully concentrate on freight and GA which are clearly it's strengths. If it fails there then it has no chance as a money making passenger facility....Not having a go just facing facts.

Fire and rescue cat 3 avbl during published ad hrs. Fire and rescue cat limited to a Max of Cat 4 < Avbl by prior arrangement during published ad hr >
Cov Man Where in the above does it say Cat 5 or 6
If they cannot offer it in normal operating hours how can they offer it out of hours?????

Simple answer is what they offer is of little use, their operating hours / fire cat are unlikely to attract operators. Which is why they have lost traffic to BHX and EMA recently.

"cy we can get firecategory up to five or six but not all ways at
that time in the night so just call up atc days 123.825 or
nights 136.150 .
0523 covman"
Sounds like a good plan that one.
Like to do a flight into Coventry about 0130 with a full load of passengers, not sure if they will have fire cat for my aircraft,or be able to open for me, so will fly past at about 1500 and ask ATC on frequency if they will be able to?
Genius level covman, are you senior management there??

I think I know the answer to this one,
Covman works at another Coventry airport somewhere on the planet which has proper fire coverage and scheduled passenger services

Fire Cat at COV
Leofric
So far as I understand the airport is oblidged to provide the RFF Cat appropriate to the aircraft size - so an A319 can only come in if Cat 6 is available. In certain circumstances, an operator's flight ops manual may in exceptional circumstances permit a step down of RFF cover by one category - i.e. to Cat 5 for the A319. It is not at the discretion of the airport to lower the cover - it is soley down to the operator.
It is rarely, if ever (?) permissable for a Cat 6 aircraft to go into an airport that can only provide Cat 4 RFF.
Naughty boys COV!
On the sale front - I understand you can buy the lease for a quid - but you have to take on the few million a year losses currently being incurred.

Surely the aircraft's configuration has something to do with it? For example, a freighter 737 would not require Cat6. It also might be to do with whether the aircraft was operating as a private flight rather than a public transport one?

CAA prov stats say coventry had 44 pax in october. I guess that is 22 in and 22 out!
How much is an airport that handles 44 pax a month worth?
looking at the route lists it seems they all were from GENEVA

fire category cvt
if you look at operational data you can see that fire category can go
up to category six by prior arrangemen.
go to coventry airport web site and look at fees and charges.

Failed to file accounts again
The airport is operated by West Midlands international airport ltd
They have failed to file their 2008 accounts by the 31 October deadline. This happen the year before when they were almost struck off as a limit company this april for failing to file for 2007. When fileing accounts the directors and accountants have to decide if it can be considered a going concern. They cannot do this if they do not have a creditable way to keep trading solvently. I expect they have till April 2010 to find a buyer.
see WebCHeck - Select and Access Company Information
