Not sure if I am allowed to link to this (if not, mods please remove):
Announcement on facebook only? It appears that I am getting old....
Hilarious comments in the comments section with 79 EUR labelled as a rip off and people threatening to drive 90 minutes to Dublin for 20 EUR tickets (presumably with an inflatable car running on tap water that can be deflated and stored in the carry-on once arrived at Dublin airport....)
Not terribly professional to announce the service on the airport's facebook site with the airline's website not working....

Let's assume everyone's buying tickets at a reasonable price, €20 (€40 return) one way from Dublin, €79 (€158 return) one way from Waterford.
For 1 person, bus to the airport from waterford, €30 Dublin coach (free for kids U12 with adults) That's €70 return from Dublin, or €158 return from Waterford for one person.
Fair enough, waterfords only a little extra and it's a little easier to fly from there.
Now, a family of 4, that's €280 return from Dublin, or €632 from waterford at the lowest fares. This is where it becomes very uncompetitive. This is why regional airports find it hard to compete, same reason as people from Shannon and Corks catchment use Dublin for places like Birmingham and Edinburgh.
That and 6x weekly/3x weekly verses several times daily from other airports.

Also factor in that Dublin has flights to all 5 London airports (plus Southampton and Southend). Seeing that VFR is one of the largest sources of passengers for London flights and that those people being visited could live all over the London area, flying from Dublin can make sense.
In my own case, my sister lives in South-West London and I would only use Heathrow (20-30 mins) or Gatwick (45 mins) to visit her. Luton or Stansted would take over 2 hours to get to her house after landing.
Were I Waterford based, what I'd gain on not traveling to Dublin, I'd lose at the other end.

I don't think that flights like the ones we are talking about mainly target the VFR crowd. I also doubt that the majority of passengers are families of 3 or 4.
Anyway, as it is impossible to offer Ryanair-style fares from regional airports on 30 or 50 seaters, the discussion is and complaints to that effect are moot. Either Waterford is able to fill a 30 seater at perfectly reasonable fares or the end of scheduled services from Waterford is nigh again.

I'm with virginblue in that I'm sure the target audience is mainly business pax who would spend €150 for the convenience. The achilles heal is the frequency - really London needs to be 2x daily to enable day returns.

Good luck to this new airline. I didnt pick up on the aircraft type, saab will it be? 12 flights out a week sounds like 1 unit?
The choice of name is extremely limiting in my view, using something more generic or less Irish perhaps would offer scope to link other points if opportunities arise, air instead of aer for example. Branching in the future into say non ireland rated routes, who is going to check aersoutheast ... i'll be interested to see how they market this route and to whom ?

Don't think it makes a difference. The airline is Slovenian and Aer Southeast is simply a brand for a regional operation (the airline is, by the way, called Aer Lipican anyway, not Air). Probably a bit like all those different "...flyg" airlines in Sweden.

I build websites and that is a cr@p website, it is no more than a booking engine, I looked because I was curious regarding type of aircraft and I'm still none the wiser.
Website is just a standard one from AeroCRS, a company whose main product is minimal websites for airlines who can't afford to pay for a customised website. AeroCRS' main rival is Flexflight. Typically they are used by tiny start-up airlines with maybe one or two props serving less than 10 routes.
Harry - as someone who presumably spends a fair bit of time in the Philippines, you may wish to note the AeroCRS solution is also used by Sky Passada in the Philippines
For a new airline every penny really matters, and as long as a website can handle things like making new bookings, take payment and allow passengers to check-in, then it's good enough

I wish them well.
However when I try to book, I see "flights operated by Aer Southeast", and I get as far as being asked for my credit card number without any sign of terms and conditions.
First, my understanding was that Lipican Aer rather than Aer Southeast is the AOC holder, and this should be stated if so. And second, shouldn't I be able to see T&Cs before I pay?
Hopefully just a startup glitch, but hopefully one that's fixed quickly.

Aer Southeast is an Irish company, based at Waterford airport, Ireland. The aim of the company is to establish scheduled air services between Waterford and the UK.
We will also focus on servicing the charter market in Ireland.
The CEO of the company is Mr. Einar Adalsteinsson, an Icelandic native, who has spent his whole carrier of over 25 years in aviation
